    Cameron 'call me' Maybin.

    Yeah, that was an original.

I understand the argument that Maybin is a long term commitment but because of that reason I think it makes sense to give EY the first stab and then when he inevitably flames out you give it over to Maybin. That being said, Freddi needs to work to get Maybin in the lineup which would include giving Markakis some time off against a tough lefty.

The best solution as I see it is to start Maybin in CF most games and continue to get EY Jr. AB's and starts by playing him in left where his defense is a plus.

With the squad we have, this is a good solution IMO. I'd prefer to see Maybin get the bulk of the starts in CF.

75% chance Chip is going to use that if Maybin goes yard.

Maybin, by far in my opinion. But, I agree with having EY in the lineup in LF.

    MaybinLF
    Peterson 2B
    Markakis RF
    Freeman 1B
    Cjoh/Callaspo 3B
    C-Beth... meh C
    Simba SS
    EY JR CF

With Maybin on the team, I would platoon Gomes/Young/KJ and CJ/KJ/Callaspo with Young getting some starts against lefties in CF and Callaspo getting some against lefties at 2b and CJ getting some against lefties at 1b when Freeman needs a day off.

Since we only have two hitters and one amazing fielder those three need to be in the lineup as much as possible. Couldn't care less who plays or starts anywhere else besides first base, SS, and right field.

Right now, roll with EYJ since he's playing well, once that runs out, go with Maybin.

How is a slash line of 200/273/300 considered playing well?

    3 games.

2 for 11, I say we give him more than 11 AB's but hey that's just me.

I think he's just pointing out that he is not, in fact, playing well so far.

    Sure. But I mean he's hit 242/306/327 - 633 since 2013. That's just the player he is.

EY,Jr. earned the position in ST should be getting most of the starts for now. Fredi is doing the smart thing by bringing in Maybin for defense in later innings and sliding Young over to LF. He's working Maybin into the position if he wants to. Things like this will work themselves out. With so many options available Fredi is going to be less likely to stick with any one lineup for too long.

Not being expected to win takes pressure off him too.

I get that EY had a great spring and he's fast and great on the bases so certain people are going to get all excited about that but he's just not that good. Not that Maybin is much better if any at the plate but he's a plus defender in center which should eventually get him the starting job.

Overall it's not much of a difference between the two and isn't really going to effect how the team peforms by anything substantial but I do feel Maybin is the overall better player.

    This!

EY has provided a spark of energy so far, and I love the effort with which he plays. Let him play until he starts to struggle. At the same time, allow Maybin to work himself into the outfield gradually. Let him start a few games in left, and be the guy who spells Nick Markakis when he needs a day off.

By July, I really see Gomes/KJ, Maybin, and Markakis as our regular outfield, with EY backing up all three (and 2B).
