Yeah, Young needs to be snagged from the leadoff role quickly. He just struck out on three high fastballs. lol

    Yep pretty much.

The idea for an offensive philosophy is good. But when you have a ton of sub par players it's gonna suck no matter what.

This game has been fairly predictable the moment the line-up was announced. Bleh.

Sure, but then we are asking the same question for almost a decade now. Who bats lead off? We had Bourn, but chose to sign BJ Upton instead.

He isn't the answer to that question.

I agree. If you want to build around a team that doesn't strikeout and puts the ball in play then that's fine. But if the guys you have in general just suck even if they do that then your offense is going to suck. Same thing if you go for the 'steroid approach' and ignore K's and just go with power. That works if you have good hitters and it won't work if your hitters suck. The approach that Wren wanted wasn't wrong. He just had the wrong players.

And then moved Heyward there but traded him.

At this point, Simmons deserves a shot to bat there. At least he puts the ball in play.

But he doesn't walk and historically doesn't have a good BABIP beause he pops up a lot and has weak contact. That's not going to get it done in the leadoff spot either.

Oh I know. At this point anyone deserves a chance because so and so isn't going to do worse than <insert name here.>

Markakis should be the guy at the top right now.

True. I'd say have a setup lineup and reevaluate in a month.

I'm not against this honestly. It could teach him a bit a discipline. I know we tried him there and in the a while back, but I'd try it.

Honestly, I'd like Maybin there for a bit...

Maybin has a little power. I would go -

    Markakis
    Maybin
    Freeman

I'm pretty sure we're not going to score 4 runs off their closer again.
