Headed over to see Rome in Asheville tonight.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Quite a shakeup of the Carolina and Rome staffs. Maybe he was just pushed back a day. No word as to why.

    No Povse.

Caleb Beech was strong - really solid early, got a little rattled during the fourth but battled through it. Saw several 92s on the stadium radar board, but didn't get a chance to talk to the scouts I saw before I left.

Davidson's Ks were a result of really pressing - only saw 4-5 pitches per AB. First professional game at "home" (his high school field is less than 10 miles from the park). Bunches of Davidson jerseys in the stands - think his whole family was there, and most of his friends and teammates as well as the current T. C. Roberson baseball team was there. Big crowd even for a "Thirsty Thursday" game ($1 beer night). He did make a really good running catch on a fly ball headed for the corner on a particularly windy evening - covered a lot more ground than I thought he could. BIG kid - does look like there will be plenty of power potential if he can continue improvement in his approach.

Albies and Obregon HAVE to be the smallest double play tandem in the history of baseball - they looked tiny out there - Jose Altuve may be bigger than both of them. 2 of Albies' 3 groundouts could've been infield hits - Tourists' infielders were pinching the holes and they still only got him by a half step on all threee (one was a really questionable call). "Ozzy" (how he was listed on the lineup card) made a great play on a grounder up the middle and turned it into a spinning 6-3 DP, getting spiked just below the knee (big tear in his pants) but appeared to be OK. He led off the next inning and almost beat out another grounder after staying down for a few minutes following the play.

Curcio beat out a perfect bunt for his hit.

De La Rosa's HR was a laser in the right-center gap - left in a hurry. Probably not a HR in most parks given McCormick Field's funky dimensions, but it would've been a ringing double off the wall in ANY park.

Of The Rose is hitting much better this year than he has in the past. 3rd round pick who supposedly was a solid defender coming out of high school with a questionable ceiling in terms of his bat. Not a lot of catching in the system, so if the light bulb comes on for him, he could be somebody. Still only 21. Big thing for him is that his K rate has dropped dramatically.

Good report Clvclv...Not a fan of De la Rosa at all. Glad he hit one, but he's "meh" to me. Davidson, his dad said he could hit homeruns when he wanted to but changed his swing. I would say, find a good balance. Good report.
