That (Leopold Brothers) Fernet Porter pushes Odell way over the top of the pile, for me.

I think you have several breweries to make a case. I think Russian River brews the best beer from California (Pliny) but does that make them the best brewer? Hard to say.
I think so. I'm not a big Stone fan. I really like Green Flash, and I love Lagunitas, but I (totally unfairly) count the latter as a Chicago brewery now. But for real: Pliny the Elder doesn't even scratch Russian River's surface. Damnation, Sanctification, Supplication, Blind Pig, Salvation—their lineup is deep, and all of it impressive as hell.

I haven't had every Russian River beer, I've had for sure Damnation, Supplication and Salvation. Not sure of the others. THey're certainly great. I just don't know if they're Duh great. Stone has some amazing offerings Enjoy By, IPA, Ruination, Smoked Porter, Russian Imperial Stout, etc. I'm personally not a huge fan of Arrogant Bastard. It's ok but it's like a last resort order if there's nothing I like better and nothing I want to try.

It's official: I'm going to GABF again this year (after a one year hiatus). Anyone else going?

Just moved to South Philly and there's a great beer store called Bottle Shop about five minutes away. Kinda need some suggestions for new stuff. I always go to the same ones. But they have a huge selection.

Nice, they have a lot of Neshaminy at this place. I'll pick up a few, not sure I've ever had it.

We've got three local microbreweries that have opened up in the past 2 years and 2 tap houses and a couple of Sports bars with huge selections on tap. Really liking where I am these days. On top of that Asheville and Charlotte are both close by. There's no shortage of options of well crafted microbrews.

What's everyone favorite Octoberfest beer? I haven't tried a lot of different styles myself, but currently enjoying Shiner's Octoberfest. It's rather tasty.
