    Sheriff's Deputies Kill Suicide VIctim

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/article...kill-him.html;

If he attacked the cops that's one thing, if they shot him dead because he wouldn't drop the knife, they should be put in jail

In a phone interview with Commander Chuck Mulligan of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, The Daily Beast asked if it was standard procedure to bring assault rifles, but not mental-health professionals, to a scene where someone is suicidal.
    Sadly, yes.

If he was actually alive before they killed him, the story will be whether he attempted to attack them or not. Of course the family thinks he didn't.

My comment / disappointment has a lot more to do with the lack of mental-health professionals than the type of gun. On the latter, I largely agree that parsing calibre and automation can be an empty exercise.

Not sure how departments can afford one, but would be certainly nice to have.

There is a need for better mental care in this country. Not sure it would have helped in this case, but mental care in this country is not what it could be. Luckily for me though, I can just visit chopcountry.com when I'm in need of therapy.

View suicide as a mental health issue that would require a Mental Health person as opposed to a SWAT team.
    Just sayin'

    .......

Seeing there are people that view problems like the carpenter that see's the solution to every problem a bigger hammer.

some issues we just can't shoot our way out of

When I was in college I had a really tumultuous year long relationship with a psychotic lass.

We got in this drunken argument one time, and I remember penning her this passionate, brilliantly poetic letter which I thought would be masterfully accented with the inclusion of a single bullet in the envelope. You know, to illustrate my undying love.

It was supposed to be symbolic.

Yeah, that didn't go over very well ...

    There was a question ?

Oh yeah, there was a sentence with a question mark at the end -- not really sure what the punctuation had to do with your statement.
After of course the local wise people decided their money better spent on weapons than counselors.

Betcha if the FBI investigated local law enforcement the way they just did FIFA they might find similar NRA influence in the formulation of some local SWAT Team s.

    Flush with cash indeed
