Didn't they DFA Stults. Callaspo's turn should come up any day now.

Do you think either of these guys were guys the Dodgers wanted? Do you see anyone trading anything for Cahill or Ciraco (unless the Braves enticed someone to take Cahill like the D-Backs did?)

The trade was clearly Thomas for Withrow. The rest was window dressing.

Well, Stults was, immediately upon the Dodgers' receipt of him.

Nonetheless—as I edited into the original post—I could see some team desperate for relief help take an injured-pitching-prospect flyer on Cahill later this summer if he pitches reasonably well out of the Braves' bullpen and if the Braves pick up a reasonable chunk of his salary.

I think they may have actually rejected him before he stepped on the plane.

But I wouldn't put Cahill and Ciriaco in the same category as Callaspo and Stults. Ciriaco especially has value as a talismanic pinch hitter.

Uribe and Jaime just heard "dressing".

There are usually two classes of competitive teams in the market for relief help in July: teams willing to pay a bit more than a reliever is worth for guys with good stuff and good experience having good years, and teams scrounging for bargains to fortify their margins. I think, between Grilli, Johnson, Avilan, and Cahill, the Braves can likely be in position to service both types of team—pending, of course, the performances of those respective players over the coming month or two.

So I've added the Giants and White Sox as possible suitors for Lord BABip and Uribilisque, as both those teams were mentioned in a previous thread. Any other teams trawling for hot-corner stiffs who might out-produce replacement-level?

And any ideas which teams are in the most need of 7th/8th/9th-inning relief help, and are likewise in a position to want to do something about it?

The Mariners would probably be interested in Grilli or Johnson considering Rodney has been faltering this year. If they wouldn't give up Taijuan Walker for Justin Upton, then perhaps we could flip Grilli for him.

Both White Sox catchers have been putrid this season. Perhaps they'd want to double-down on reunions and trade for a package of Uribe and Pierzynski?

I have mixed feelings on Maybin. I'm one of the few (or the only) that wanted the Braves to acquire him even before the Kimbrel trade. I think he has a lot of talent and a multi-dimensional skillset. But, if the return is right -- and if you have the opportunity to get from underneath that contract completely -- I think you have to do it.
    Great thread.

    Almost. I and thou, brah.

He's my favorite Brave not from Curacao, but I'd deal him for the right return.

Pretty endearing note, from last night's telecast, that he was asked how great it felt to be back in southern California, and he said (paraphrasing), "**** that; I like the mountains and ****."

I loved that, particularly being a WNC homie.
