    Werth, Strasburg, Harper out

Werth out at least two months with fracture

Strausburg on DL with "neck," no "back" tightness

Harper scratched from lineup with "back tightness"

The point to be made here is how fragile the core on which the Nationals are built seems to be. Don't many of you agree that Harper is on his way to being this century's Pete Reiser?

Almost enough to make you want to root for the Mets and big fat Colon.

I'd cheer for any team over the Zombie Expos.

That's why its stupid to punt on any season unless you have absolutely no core to build around. You can't do it based upon assumptions about the competition.

So we should have gone for it this year, although this argument has been beating to death far too often.

The only thing I'm sure of regarding Harper is that if he's healthy, he will RAAAAAKE.

Strasburg does seem to be damaged goods at this point.

They are just what they were in 2013. Not near as good as advertised and now they are hurt. The East is there for the taking, but the Marlins are a mess, the Braves middle relief is non- exsistant, and the Mets have cooled after the hot start. It's there if we can get the pen stabilized.

I am glad you think four games out is after 2 months is too far out to catch up. I remember years prior to 1991 Braves fans would have been thrilled to have been 4 games out of first at this stage of the season. We'll see who laughs last...

If that's your real name, then you are the king of homers.

Harper I think is suffering from similar issues that Heyward, LeBron, etc. have. Being a physical freak I don't think is good on your joints and ligaments.

Virginia, if the Braves win the NL East this year, I'll let you name my first born.

I would politely decline. Having said that, 4 games out of first, 2.5 out of a playoff spot at the 3rd pole is not out of it. The only real zit on this team is getting from the starter to Grilli. Get that fixed and you've got something. As far as offense goes, yeah they have tailed of a bit but look at the starters faced on this trip alone. They could shutdown anybody. I read the posts on this board and you would think we were 8-9 games out. And for the record, never said they would win the East. Just that they have something to play for and its not 2017 its 2015 and that needs to be the focus by the team and the fanbase.

Its a long season, you never know what can happen. The Braves have about as much of a chance as Dallas Keuchel had of becoming an ace starter. Who knows what can happen, maybe we call up a prospect from the high minors who inexplicably goes on a tear leading to SI to dub him the natural. The Braves were up 5 games about this time last year too.

He was sore from being drilled in the center of the back with a pitch

Other than pitching and hitting, you are right.
