@jjcoop36: Braves pick Justin Ellison from W. Okla. was 9th on BA's Okla. list. Has some power and speed.

Ellison is interesting. Played at the same JC in Oklahoma that produced Andrelton Simmons. Big-time tools. Committed to Oklahoma State.

    Edit: 3/3 with Johnson-Mullins in the 13th.
    That was impressive!

Braves are all over JC guys, especially those in the Southeast. After reading about Ellison and not seeing him picked yesterday, I thought he was someone who made sense. Honestly didn't know whether or not we'd pick him.

Herbert can only catch one guy at a time. Need to draft about five more catchers.

JJ Cooper of Baseball America says he typically prefers the players drafted in rounds 11-15 to the guys drafted in rounds 8-10 because they are higher upside players that are tougher signs.

The Braves have made some real good selections so far today. I wonder if the supposed underslot selections from day two were done with the intent of having extra money to throw at tougher sign players on day three.

Any info that has come out which has said these players are tough signs?

Not in any specific case. He was talking in generalities.

You impressed with Roy Clark's work the last 2 days? Should I be concerned that no one knows whether Austin Riley is a 3B or pitcher? Seems to me that indicates he isn't very good at either.

He's actually pretty good at both. I think that will be a slightly under-slot deal for him to go out as a hitter. I liked Atlanta's draft overall, as there's a lot of upside and a slew of power arms after the third round. Minter was the only pick I truly didn't like - I see a reliever with a bad delivery who won't come back from TJ till this time next year.

I've now seen at least one "expert" opine that Soroka, Riley, and Minter may be under-slot signs from day one. We know the 10th rounder yesterday will be under-slot, and there's a decent chance that some others from yesterday will be as well. Will be interesting to see who, if anyone, we sign over $100k from the 11th round on. That will be one way to measure the effectiveness of this strategy.

Was hoping we'd take a college catcher. He's a redshirt sophomore, so old enough to maybe be a guy to keep an eye on in 17, although certainly it would be highly unlikely. Has a strong arm. Might not hit enough of course, but at least we have another option to keep an eye on.
    thank you weso1!

Keegan showed some nice patience at the plate and threw out nearly 50% of would be base stealers. Obviously the competition is what it is, but he's a guy to keep an eye on. I hope they can sign him.
