Lien is Exhibit A of how some of Wren's decision-making process in the draft wasn't totally flawed. Lien, like Grosser, was a guy drafted on his tools at a point where they knew they'd have to shell out a bit to get him. Wren for the most went production over projection early and the projection over production later.
Lien's primary problem seems to be that he makes Jeff Francoeur look patient by comparison, at least this season. His walk rate, while not high, was better at the lower levels. Good thing about Lien is that he can play CF. Always a plus.
He is going to have a high BABIP by nature of his skill set.
The key for him to sustain his offensive value is to decrease his strike outs and maintain his walk rate around 10%.
The strikeouts are the only thing that give me pause about his ability to transition to the big leagues.

I have no proof... but I'll bet a decent sum of money that thethe made similar comments about prospects like Kubitza, Terdo, and even Kyle Wren
Mallex up to .350.

I remember Joey T inspiring some extravagant projections during his outstanding High A season. But I'm sure thethe was one of the voices cautioning against overvaluing prospects, as he always is.
