    Bowman: Braves Are Three-Eyed Freaks

OK, so technically Bowman's story is just saying (for the 100th time) that the team is trying to balance competitiveness with re-building.

But you headline your story, "Braves have one eye on present, two on future," I'm going to make some assumptions.

I'm curious to see who will have the better market at the deadline: Jim Johnson or Jason Grilli.

i'm hoping that is posturing....why not trade off everyone over 30 who is not part of your long term plans (assuming a good return).

I think it would depend upon return. I don't think they are interested in just giving guys away for C+ prospects. If they can get B level prospects for the veteran players, my guess is most of them will go.

That won't happen because always having a few good veterans in the clubhouse is preferable.

This is what I got out of it too. They aren't going to trade these guys for mediocre prospects. They'll look for high upside guys.
    thank you weso1!

I'd like to see us do something like trade Jim Johnson for a prospect, then use that prospect and another mid level prospect to get a guy like Brad Ziegler who is a better option and would be under control next year for $5.5M, and keep Grilli who is signed for a reasonable 3.5M next year.

There are ways we can improve this year with an eye towards next year and the magical 2017 season.

Quite sick of handing away ML talent for prospects. Free agency under the Hart regime is gonna be terrible. Constantly going to be cheap and searching the clearance rack.
