Barker apparently has been promoted to Gwinnett and will start there today.

Why is Vizcaino pitching today. He should be resting so he is good to go 2 days in a row or 3 of 4 if need be.

Seeing Hursh and Sims suck it up consistently sure makes me glad we stockpiled young arms.

    Still believe in Sims.

Hursh was the type of low ceiling arm that doomed hte last front office.

Well, he isn't a low ceiling arm. He had one of the most dominant pitches in that entire draft. He just hasn't developed the secondary stuff to get hitters off it. Wasn't it a power sinker? Like, in the mid 90's?

Yes, but a one pitch pitcher is a pitcher that is destined for the pen is it not?

That to me is a low ceiling type.

Yep. If he was a high school arm with that good sinker then he'd be high ceiling. But with his secondary stuff lagging coming out of college, there just wasn't much ceiling left.

I really want to see him out of the pen. Use that one pitch, go max effort, and use a showcase secondary offering to keep hitters honest and he might become a valuable piece.

The Braves have been tight lipped about the bus injuries but is anyone else convinced the issue was concussions? It would explain why you have guys missing so much time when there were no broken bones or the like reported. If that's the case, it could be a long road back for Sims and others. This could very well be a lost year for these guys.

thethe...I see a lot of the young uns..I don't profess to being a scout or anything, but I've watched him enough to see...great arm, but the pitching aspect of it is lost on him thus far. When he gets hit, the adjustment process is confusing. I hope he figures it out. I watched him at Rome and was impressed by the stuff, not so much the execution. I've seen him once in Carolina and I still felt the same.

Not if his one pitch is the most dominant in the draft. A guy like that can develop secondary pitches further with more skilled teaching is hitting gold. It was a gamble that if it didn't pan out, could still end up productive in the pen.

We didn't draft him for the pen and run him out there as a starter for 3 years.

I know one thing. Dustin Peterson hasn't been the same since the accident.
