Interesting comments by the former Braves pitcher. What do you guys think about his comments?

They have a long way to go but pure stuff they are better. Degrom is a top 5-10 pitcher right now in my eyes.

Smoltzie may want to go back and look his Glavine's, and Maddux's numbers. There's no way I take the Mets pitchers over the 93', 95, 96, or 97 Braves staff. Those four years are upper echelon in pitching trio history.

Good thing stuff doesn't always equal talent. Do they have anybody better than prime Glavine, Smoltz, or Maddux?

Not until they do it first but Harvey and Degrom are just as dominant so far.

I'm sorry but no they are not. None of them has come close to a single year Maddux had 93-98. Or Smoltz 95-97.

I'll take our 90s staff, including a healthy Steve Avery, over the Mets' staff. Avery looked destined for greatness before he got hurt. Maddux's 1995 season was a top-10 all-time season and probably top 5. We were all spoiled watching him pitch. Likewise, Smoltzie and Glavine.

I said they have to do it for a long period of time but on a start to start basis I think they are just as dominant. Harvey is just recovering frOm injury so right now he isnt.

Smoltz is obviously crazy as well. I think he would know better than us.

You just put DeGrom in the same sentence has Maddux, Smoltz, and Glavine. Think about that

Yup, and I watched all of those guys pitch on many occasions. I suggest you watch Degrom pitch more.

And oh yeah, Smoltz did the same thing.

Smoltz is wrong - or is just being humble.

    You're just insane.

Let me know when DeGrom puts up 7 consecutive 7+ WAR seasons... better yet, let me know when he does one (in the steroid era, no less)

That's just thethe. DeGrom = Maddux based on his half season so far. Harper = best hitter in the world based on 3 months as well. Francouer was a future MVP based on his first few months. The list goes on and on.

I'm not convinced they are as good yet. They'll have to get it done on the field for several years in a row to even deserve comparison.

Smoltz is just being humble on his stroll to the HOF.

Bull****. I know he's just jesting. The Mets have a really solid rotation , but they aren't even remotely close to those teams.

Heck, I'm irrationally angry about this.

There are not many rotations through out the history of the game that can compare with the Braves of the 90s. The only one I can think of is the 1970 Orioles, but then they did not maintain that dominance on the same team for over a decade, I cannot think of any rotation that accomplished that other than Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz.

Think about this, the 3 combined to win 870 games, save 154 and finish a total of 293 games OVER .500 combined in the regular season. They also won a combined 40 post season games.
