Detwiler pretty darn good against LHH in his career (62 OPS+ against). Hey when your bullpen sucks, there are a line of (sometimes) decent middle relievers outside your door.

They are picking up guys with upside that could help our crappy bullpen and have trade potential, I like what the braves are doing this year.

Sure, why not. I don't think I'm going to hold out any hope that we flip him for a fringe prospect at the deadline, though.

It's July 17th. I doubt we are going to be flipping Detailer at the deadline.

That was in jest. That's been the response to every pitching castoff we've signed this year.

Maybe for a top 75 prospect but definitely not a top 50.

REmember hearing Sutton talk on the radio of his time with the Nats being asked to write up his opinions of Detwiler. He loved him.
His make up - his stuff - the whole package. He said he couldn't understand what the Nats were thinking in relegating him to a mop up role.

This should be an interesting pick up

His problem was he didnt perform. His off speed stuff needs a lot of improvement. Great guy though

Good pickup if he's used on lefties.

Looks like a decent pick-up. Curious to see how he's used. It seems his performance started to fall off when he went to the bullpen. Pretty solid numbers in 2012.

Do you think this change of scenery will help ?
Perhaps a new pitching coach the way Mayben and Seitzer jelled
    ???

Yeah, and it's a bit odd that nothing has been announced. Clubhouse has been open for over an hour now, so surely they would have had a chance to talk to Brigham or Carpenter if they were just getting optioned to GWI. Signing was officially announced, so they need to make a move before tonight's game. Could be nothing, but it's that time of year . . .
