Going with the hypothetical that Wood hs TJ again despite how rare it is for guys to have twice, he misses a year. That still doesnt mAke trade worthwhile.

It's gonna be hard to find a Wood replacement. Not to mention he was one of the only guys who could go deep into games. He was really starting to come into his own, attacking the zone through the back door. Hart got stiffed in this deal. No bones about it.

    What moves were bad?

Huh? Then, again, our FO is dumb. Because they made both deals. We don't live in a universe where only one of them happened, we live in this one.

The market value of that pick Is probably $5m or more. It's an important part of the return. The Dodgers basically bought the 74th pick for around $2m last year.

His mantra changes depending on what the FO is doing.

Trading guys that strike out? Speed and contact is the future. Peraza is awesome.

Trade for pitchers with TJS? Great value. No way the Braves could get him if he wasn't hurt.

Trade Wood and Peraza? Wood is going to get hurt soon. Peraza isn't the player a 30 year old cuban with no MLB experience is.
BS. Stop that. I've been talking about trading Wood since the offseason. I actually like Peraza still and hope he does well.

Say Wood gets TJ #2....in the Braves current state would you trade Peraza / JJ / Av for Olivera?

    Wow. Damn.

Pretty good piece , and along with our rumored spending spree for Intls could load us up.

Considering Oliveras bonus has been paid, we would have him for 5 yrs at 32 mill?

If you're going to trade Wood, it makes more sense to do it in the offseason, even though it really actually doesn't make sense at all.

I meant to say we can't re-write history. You are saying the deal is even worse because they could have just signed him. Well they didn't so that has no bearing on this deal.

I hate trading Wood and I generally don't agree with the process of trading for a 30 year old, but Oliviera might be really really good.

There's upside to the trade. But it's entirely dependent on him reaching his upside.
