Hope Riley can keep it going. He's tied for the GCL lead in HRs with a guy who was recently promoted to the NY-P League. Riley's co-leader is a 22-year-old 2013 draftee who started in the GCL after sitting out all but a few games last season with an injury.

GCL Braves' hitters lead the league in HRs, SLG, OPS, and Ks. 3rd in league in BB. 4th in OBP. 5th in BA. Average age of the hitters is 18.6; a year younger than last year's team.

We're gonna need Riley ready to replace Olivera when he hits the DL in 2017

Hopefully Riley can stick at third because his bat would play well there. I know it's been said he has the arm for it, but I guess we'll see about the glove.

    Remember this foursome!

The attrition rate for hitting prospects is a lot lower than for pitchers. My guess is two or three of these guys will have solid major league careers.

Since starting 1 for 22, Riley has hit 7 home runs in his last 85 at bats. Going into todays game, he was slashing .296/.337/.580 in his last 82 at bats.

This guy would have been legendary at Mississippi State had he not signed.

But, but, but - he was a REACH!!!
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

LOL! Had he played three years at Mississippi State, he's a top 10 pick easy.

Wasn't Riley part of the Kimbrel trade? If so that was the best trade by far.

I am glad Riley is doing well but I dont put much stock in rookie ball stats. I will get on the hype train when they are performing at Rome. Even Cody Johnson mashed at Danville.

And I'm always even a little hesitant to proclaim someone to be worth major hype for being successful in the SALLY League - hitters, anyway.

Yup. We got that pick from San Diego. And the pick we used to take Minter from the Diamondbacks.

The Soroka pick was compensation for Santana. In retrospect, the Santana signing worked out quite well. He gave us a strong season and 28th overall pick.

To be fair, we did forfeit a pick to get him

Correct. I remember thinking that the key to whether the signing was a good idea was whether we would get the pick back the following draft.
