Yeah he's no Mahomes, etc. but he's very good. People have slept on him for too long. If I told you I have a QB with a 65% comp% 6 TD% 2 INT% also rushes for 6 Y/A and scores a rushing TD about every other game THat's pretty great.
In 2022 and 2021, Lamar was middle was middle of the pack in TD%, Y/A, and AY/A. 9th in QBR in 2022, but 17th in 2021. Over the last 2 seasons, these numbers are in line with someone like Derek Carr. Again, nothing super exciting about his passing game. But you combine his above average passing ability with his amazing rushing ability and that makes him an elite overall QB.

One that will win 10-13 regular season games and maybe 1 playoff game.

I disagree. Not that I think Fields is amazing or will somehow change their fortune. But his acquisition cost is at an all time low. I don't see it setting them back at all. He has immensely more potential than Ridder, though Ridder has a significantly higher floor. If he sucks the remainder of the year, you move on.

This is a different argument and a valid one. Bears would be more than happy to just move on and lose every game in 23.

I disagree. He's essentially the same QB as Hurts who nearly single handedly won the SB for the Eagles last year. The concern for Lamar is health. He can't stay healthy, which is largely tied to his style of play. But if he can remain relatively healthy for a playoff run, he absolutely can win against anyone.

T-Law has the biggest excuse of all time. He was coached by Urban Meyer. They should really do a 30 for 30 on that 2021 Jags team. Glad that it finally resulted in Urban getting shown for the true POS that he is.

I think Hurts is a better thrower of the football personally. I'm a big fan of Hurts and dread facing him later in the year.

I think you underestimate just how bad the Bears are as a team.

Look at this past Sunday. Fields was 28 for 35 for 335 yards, 4 TDs, and 1 INT. That's an excellent line. If you saw that line from a QB you'd instantly assume his team won. They didn't. The Bears defense was utterly incompetent and can't stop anyone's passing game.

Currently, the Bears allow the second most passing yards per attempt, they've allowed the second most TDs, and they have the fewest sacks.

Offensively, the Bears are 23rd in passing yards (Falcons are 30th with better skill players), 16th in passing yards per attempt (Falcons are strangely 10th), 10th in passing TDs (Falcons are 28th), and the Bears are also 5th in yards per carry largely because of Fields (Falcons are 13th).

While the Bears offense isn't dominant by any stretch, they're hardly what's leading the Bears to the worst record.

Again, I wouldn't expect Fields to step in and win the MVP in Atlanta. I just think Atlanta's offense would get a lot more production out of Fields and that he'd be miles better than Ridder. Just average QB play is probably enough to carry the Falcons to the playoffs.

Atlanta has a much better team aside from QB than Chicago.

I do agree with analysts who think Fields, Allgeier and Bijan would be a nightmare to gameplan for. Pitts could be lined up more outside to create various potential mismatches as I don't think a CB can cover him legally well when he's not in the middle of the field.

I don't think Fields will turn into Lamar in Atlanta. But he could be a significant step up and with the talent around him Atlanta could be competitive in the NFC

    Regarding Kyle Pitts...

I mean he's running plenty of routes:

Kyle Pitts really is out there. Only six tight ends have run more pass routes. The problem — “problem” doesn’t feel strong enough — is that 21 tight ends have more catches. 18 have more yards. Teammate Jonnu Smith has more of each, for instance. The ESPN broadcast booth casually mentioned in Week 4 that Pitts isn’t believed to be all the way back from last year’s knee injury, information we haven’t gotten from the Falcons’ lightly-populated press corps.

Under. Hard to intercept passes that aren’t catchable

We didn’t get the usual 3 paragraph manifesto about how bad Ridder was today from striker after he looked pretty good against a solid Houston D
