The Carter character concerns were the most overblown ever. I'd bet half the first rounders had engaged in street racing with all the NIL money pouring in letting these kids buy expensive cars.
I love Bijan. He could be incredible for us but Carter was the smarter play, especially for a team that struggles to get pressure like th Falcons have.
There is only one cult that matters. And that is centered around purdy.

Eagles and Chiefs were lucky he got hurt last year.

You are over analyzing the hell out of this.
Ridder had a good game. It's ok to admit it. It wasn't because Atlanta did anything special or because Houston's defense was banged up. He had a good game because even below average QBs can play well from time to time. But the reason why they are below average is because they can't play that way consistently.
Yup consistently is key.

There was no way Carolina was getting either QB without moving up from 9. I would not be surprised if Atlanta or Indy was also in talks to move up to No.1 overall. I know for a fact TN was looking to move up to 3 in a trade with AZ in case Stroud made it past Houston. Stroud looks better so far. Maybe he is better, but Houston also has considerably better talent and so far has played a considerably easier schedule. The talent gap is especially evident at OL and WR.
Bryce seems to be what he was billed as so far. Highly accurate, good play making ability when the pocket breaks down, but mediocre arm strength. Carolina needs to implement the Miami offense if they really want Bryce to succeed. He is basically a smaller version of Tua. And to do what Maimi is doing, they are going to need elite speed at the skill position and an OL that gives him time in the pocket.
I liked both Stroud and Young heading into the draft. The only 2 QBs I was wary of were Richardson and Levis. Richardson seems to be proving me wrong somewhat. He's still pretty inaccurate, but he's played better than I expected.
Staying healthy looks like it could be an issue for him though (which is usually the case for QBs that frequently run).
It wasn't just the street racing. He also showed up overweight and out of shape to his Pro day. I certainly didn't want the Titans taking a chance on him either after the **** show that was Isaiah Wilson. A team like the Eagles have the luxury of taking a chance on him because they are already stacked.

The accuracy is one thing - Its his anticipation and ability to read the whole field while staying comfortable in the pocket.
I jsut can't believe what I'm seeing. Kid is a baby still.
Go look at when he threw the third TD to Kittle. Kittle didn't even make his break in at that point but Purdy knew what he saw and trusted that Kittle would see the same.
That is a textbook example of how you 'Throw your receiver open'.

The weight and shape thing was more mental health than character. Dude had just lost a friend in a car accident that Carter was involved in. Him struggling with guilt and depression should be expected in that situation.
The biggest question about Carter to me was whether he could overcome the mental health issues to get into NFL shape and get an NFL level of focus. I didn't see that as terribly high risk.

I would put the odds of Chicago ending up with Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr. at about 20% right now. 2 generational type of talents at different positions in the same draft is a pretty decent haul.
