Either way - They were in FG range and Moody kicked two 50+ yarders so not sure how this made the FG possible. Plus it was also 2nd down.
Dez caught it with 2 feet in bounds, then takes ANOTHER step, dives forward, and had the forearm from his free arm touch the ground first (which should have stopped the play at that point). They still called it incomplete after review. The Dez no catch was WAY more of a catch than Jusz-whatshisface, who got the 2nd foot down ONLY as he was lunging towards the sideline. At the very least, it 100% deserved to be reviewed. And by the rule, it was 100% not a catch.

And here is the Jesse James no catch, which was WAY closer to the Juszczyk "catch" considering James caught it, turned his body, had his knee hit and then lunged towards the goal line. And they explain why it was a no call. The Juszczyk "catch" should have been reviewed by the booth and it likely wouldn't have stood once it was reviewed.

Did they change the rule after this because I agree this is almost exactly the same scenario. Much better than the Dez example.

Rule has never been changed. It's the Dez Bryent rule, and his "no catch" with 3 feet and an elbow in bounds was way more of a catch than either one of the other 2.

It's the fact that it wasn't even reviewed is why it is such BS. If they review and they uphold it, it's still BS, but at least you know they looked at it. Not even reviewing a big play like that, in that moment was insane.

Looked like a catch to me but that definition has changed a lot lately

I'm a Packer fan and remember that no-catch call against the Cowboys bailing out the Packers. Rule was changed after that. To what, I can't tell you.

Hard-fought game. Looks like the 49ers told the Chiefs early on that "I hope you packed a lunch." Chiefs went in at halftime and loaded up on PBJs and Bologna sandwiches. I was a bit surprised that Shanahan somewhat abandoned the running game.

Don't ever bet against Mahomes . . . ever. Extremely talented but what sets him apart is his unmatched will and ability to play within himself when exercising that will (unlike Josh Allen). Kelce has more testosterone in his toenails than entire opposing teams (though not the 49ers). When you realize that the Chiefs' passing game boiled down to Kelce, a rookie 2nd-rounder, and a bunch of mediocre Day 3 (and FA) guys, you cannot fail to realize how special Mahomes is.

Always laugh about the Purdy debate. There's an entire galaxy between "game manager" and "guy who can carry a team." Purdy fits comfortably in that galaxy. Question is always going to be about his ceiling. Average (if that) arm strength and doesn't have a ton of pocket presence. That said, he's elusive and can do some pretty great things if the initial play breaks down. He also avoids obvious mistakes. I don't devour sports the way I used to, but when I watched the 49ers this year, I was always impressed by their WR/TEs' ability to find open spaces when Purdy had to bail out. Extremely well-coached group. What the Chiefs did yesterday was really gum up the short slants. Samuel was not a factor. The Chiefs messing with Purdy's passing lanes contributed to that.

    Other observations:

    (1) Ray-Ray McCloud missed junior high football practice the day the coach talked about how to cover a live ball.

    (2) Kyle Shanahan appears to have inherited his father's personality (in other words, none).

    (3) Shanahan taking the ball instead of deferring in overtime can be viewed both ways. 49ers had chances to stop the Chiefs on their winning drive and . . . well, Mahomes. Still have to play and can't count on getting to sudden death. The decision would have been more heavily criticized if McDuffie hadn't been called for defensive holding (and I've seen more egregious instances of defensive holding not called).

    (4) Saw Dan Campbell mentioned in the thread. If he'd worry less about having d*ck measuring contests, he'd have been in the Super Bowl. Reluctance to take gimme points can often come back to bite you and it did for Campbell a couple of times during the season (and post-season).

Shut up you baby. Niners TD pass on the double pass happened because of a hold. Trent WIlliams was holding all day. Horsecollar was also a ticky tacky call. Catch was borderline at best. Niners had a **** ton of calls go their way. Your boy wasn't good enough. If the Niners had a real QB they win that game by 20

Haha - as if Purdy was a negative in that game. Solid analysis as usual from zito.

Not a horse collar. Grabbed the jersey near at the neckline, but not over the shoulder pads.

Always a lot of barking about the refs from the losing side. Refs don't catch everything and also call things that probably aren't there. It usually evens out and I thought it did yesterday.

And the most blatant Trent WIlliams hold. I'd take a guess Wiliiams could have been flagged for holding almost every other play. He was outmatched for sure.

If Mahomes had the time Purdy had, he would have had a **** ton of scores. Mr. Irrelevant played like that yesterday.

If you score a TD... you either guarantee the ball with sudden death, or have a chance to stop a 2pt play to win the whole thing.

The Chiefs have the advantage of knowing what they have to do, so they get to play 4th downs if necessary.

Still want Shanny as the coach but he has a lot to learn. You've got one all time RB and another good backup. Run the ****ing ball more.
