The real fact though is even if you see it, these guys aren't used to taking NFL level hits. They're used to being the biggest strongest and fastest players on the field so in HS and college never really took big hits. In the NFL where the best player(s) on the other team now aren't always starting players in the NFL.
The physics difference between pocket and open field big hits often have to do with velocity. In the pocket guys usually don't have much time to get up to speed. Outside the pocket they have plenty of time.

Kaep is bigger/faster/stronger (combination) than basically 95% of secondary players. He is susceptible in the pocket to the opposing teams front seven. Again, RG3 just doesn't seem to have much awareness and he isn't built as solidly as Kaep. He is a sprinter playing football. Kaep is a football player playing football.
I agree that RG3 has taken a beating outside of the pocket but I watch every single 49er game (thanks to you) and trust me. If Kaep got hit HARD 3 times all season last year outside of the pocket I would say that number is large. He is great at avoiding it.

Kap is leaner than RG3. He looks like a WR; taller and similar weight.

It's physics. Why are car crashes more severe when two cars hit each other moving at high speeds in opposite directions compared to lower speeds or not moving at all?
And as Zito said, players don't typically get up enough momentum to do as much damage in the pocket, compared to outside the pocket or past the LOS where they could hit a QB full speed.

Kaepernick ran a 4.5 40 or so at the combine. Many LBs and DEs in the NFL are that fast and much larger than him. Not to mention size doesn't mean **** if someone knows how to hit. I don't think Kaepernick would want to square up against Dawkins. From what I've seen he doesn't take the hits that RGMe and Wilson do so as a betting man I'd guess he's likely to have less injury issues than them but he will also likely have more injuries than a pocket passer.

How ironic that football outsiders just posted this:

"After charting these players for the last two years, Kaepernick's rushing ability still impresses me the most. No one gets from one point to the other with as much speed and carefulness as Kaepernick. He knows how to slide and when to get out of bounds. He knows when it's crunch time and the extra yard is necessary."

Basically echoing what I've said for a year now. Kaep knows how to protect himself and is a freak of an athlete. If he could tighten up his accuracy a little more the sky is the limit.

Jordan Matthews "looking like the best WR on the field" in OTAs for the Eagles. Cannot say that shocks me, he was the cats ass at Vandy. Defenses doulbed him and still he made stats sheets pop. Was a steal at 42.

Ivermectin Man
I think people are really sleeping on Philly. I understand it was a new type of offense but I don't see them being stopped in year 2 on that side of the ball. Foles was just incredibly accurate and made excellent decisions.
Natural Immunity Croc
He did, but chances are he regresses a little, though they should be able to run more plays this year. Last year they were just getting started when it comes to plays per game rates.
Had Foles last year in a two QB league, and will look his way again. He had great numbers.

Their defense isn't stopping anyone anytime soon. That whole division is trash...again. Sure they could win the east, but that's it.
