Sanu isn't a true #2, but the most important part of these FA contracts is the structure. The "$7m per" thing doesn't matter.

That would be an awesome signing.

Boy, Miko Grimes has a set on her. I always liked Brent with the Falcons but that woman is a lunatic.

Like the Rishard Matthews signing. Think our offense is going to be real good next year, especially if we get Tunsil.

Like that a lot, even in a thin market. Solid signing.

Almost 7 mil per year, but the structure of the contract seems ok.

The contract is heavy, but it seems they structured it in a way that they can get out of it after two years.

The bigger problem is Sanu himself. He seems like a solid slot receiver, but he's coming here as the #2.

I think Sanu could be a strong number 2. Coupled with Julio getting doubles and Hardy getting strong looks, he should get opps. Though drops are a concern. The dollar amount is what concerns me.

Love tha Weatherspoon signing. He should be a strong contender for a starting LB.

What are free agents? Is that like Thaddeus Lewis? Goodness I can't wait for Baalke to get canned. My fear is that Jed is just going to hang onto to him though.

So looking at the Falcons offseason so far

    Not re-signed/Cut
    ROddy
    Biermann
    Chester
    Gradkowski
    Long
    SOliai
    GOdfrey
    Graham
    Moeaki
    Stupar
    Wheeler
    Worrilow

    Re-signed
    CLayborn
    Harris

    New signings
    Mack
    Sanu
    Shelby
    Spoon
    Schaub

    WHat do these moves mean?

Falcons are likely to go defense heavy in the draft. WR and TE were the positions of need offensively as well as some OL depth, with Mack on board, the interior line has a massive upgrade. Could use a guard or 2 and some depth at OT but nothing a high pick would achieve.

LB and Safety are the 2 biggest needs I see on the team. Though if a value pick falls to 17, I hope the Falcons pounce on it.

I could see a DE being taken early if one falls. If you squint REALLY hard, you have the makings of a team that might flirt with the playoffs. D needs to continue to improve.

Bears have done a great job on the FA market this year. Add a solid draft and we are looking at a playoff team next season.

MOst of the big writers have the falcons taking LB as of the most current mock. The trend had been moving that way, but after FA signings of DE and WR, and the rise of Shaq Lawson the Falcons are now mocked to take either Ragland or Lee. With 2 writers straying and going Smith or Floyd. I don't like Lee. I want Ragland. We have a MLB weakness, he's an old school jam the gap run stopping MLB. Perfect fit IMO.

Lot of folks saying Dodd will go before Lawson. I could still see that or WR in the first if the right player was there. I agree that LB is probably the biggest need after FA. Safety as well... Joseph is a monster at SS if a bit undersized but the guy can make plays. Can be had much later.
