I am a big fan of building the team first then bringing in a top QB prospect rather than putting a top QB prospect on a bad team, especially a bad OLine.

The problem with that is often you'll be too good to get that top pick to get the Cam Newtons, Andrew Lucks, etc. of the world. Of course you can luck out and get Brady or Brees. But the odds of getting a quality long term NFL QB outside of the top handful of picks is slim.

IMO the best strategy if you're a ****ty team (not a decent team who had a **** year) is to draft a QB and have him play limited minutes while the starter gets creamed. Gives him time to learn the system, and it gives the coach some limited chances to see how he handles the NFL speed and figure out adjustments from there. Hopefully you luck into a smart QB who knows he can't hold the ball for 5 seconds in the pocket every time and has a quick trigger.

Got to say I love this trade for the Titans. This is a deep draft and we now have 6 picks in the first like 70 picks. And we still leave the option open to trade back into the top 5 or 10 range.

Can't find fault with this opinion at all. Only reservation is you have to go get a QB. Can't really win in the league without one... Rams are proof of that...and yet they are solid elsewhere other than WR.

Yes, you have to have a QB for the most part. Team like the Skins played well despite an average QB last year. But, I don't think they are trading up for an elite QB prospect.

For the value of the pick (number 1 etc.) it wasn't a ton to give up.

St. Louis traded pick number 15, 43, 45, and 76 this year and their first and 3rd round picks the following year. Now if the Rams suck, the Titans make out. The Rams failed with their picks and life goes on. They got back pick 1, 113, and 177. Pick 177 is basically worthless and pick 113 holds little value but could be negligible with the 3rd round pick they gave up.

This is not the RG3 trade where the Skins traded 3 ones and a 2 (and a 3?) to move up from 6 to 2. But neither Wentz or Goff are as exciting of a prospect as RG3 or Luck (I mean maybe the Colts wouldn't have drafted Luck but we knew that was very likely) So there is that fact that the 2 that yaer had more value than the 1 this year for that reason, but in the end the play of the pick will determine if the trade was good or not.

We look back at times teams have traded a haul to move up.

1. RG3 Trade - Obvious big win for St. Louis in terms of value of players, Skins got a winning season, and that was it.
2. Julio Trade - Obvious big win for Falcons, icing on the cake aside from them getting arguably the best WR in the NFL was that the Browns drafted pretty much no one of any significance with their picks
3. Ricky Williams Trade - most insane trade ever, in the end the Redskins wound up with Champ Bailey, Lavar Arrington, Derek Smith, and Lloyd Harrison. Which is an obvious win for the skins with Champ being one of the better corners to ever play the game and the Saints only getting 3 seasons and about 3000 yards and 16 TDs. WIlliams was then traded for more picks.

A division title. And a **** pot of money bc of RG3.

Yes, I do. They have some hope now. Don't like the QB or Mularky much, but they have so much to work with in a stacked draft, it would be tough to screw up.

Problem with that is Philly is gonna Philly. They chased the best coach to ever coach there out of town. Reid should have been an idol, instead the idiot Philly media blasted him any chance they got.

The Redskins are clearly in the best situation in the NFC East. They have a young QB that is producing and Scot M has built up the team with a influx of young players. We have plenty of cap room and a fairly deep roster of young players. Philly is trainwreck right now. Dallas still doesn't have anyone to replace Romo when he goes down hurt (and he's already on his last leg). The Giants will probably improve in the short term, but also have an older QB and made laughable decisions in the offseason. The Redskins are in good shape just by being competent over the past couple years.
