Rams trade Jared Goff, 2022 #1 pick , 2023 #1 pick, and 2021 rd 3 pick for Matthew Stafford. Wow. Great deal for Lions even if Goff never plays a snap imo. The upside for them is huge in this trade.

Yeah, that's a fantastic trade for the Lions whether Goff works out or not. He's a middling talent overall, but he isn't bad.

Pretty huge deal for a QB that's aging and not elite. Can't imagine what Watson might go for.

Yeah. Stafford is a solid QB, but it's not like they're getting Ryan who you could argue that he once was elite and could return to that level if he was on a winning team. Stafford, has largely toiled in mediocrity even when he had arguably the best receiver in the game.

Can you imagine what Rodgers would get if the Packers decided to trade him?

I can't imagine any team could afford to give up that many draft picks, which is probably why he won't be traded. I mean you're talking more than the Ricky Williams trade.

Devin White admitted he and Lavonte David have thousand dollar bounties in games. Hopefully Sherlock Goidell was listening.

I believe that LA had to offer a haul for Stafford to get out from Goff’s albatross of a contract.

Correct, but unless the NFL has drastically changed it's rules. Detroit can just cut Goff with minimal penalty because LA has to pay his signing bonus.

But with an extra first round pick, if the Lions want to move up to number 4 to grab their next QB I'll take number 7 and a few other picks. Maybe that 2022 Rams 1 and 2021 Rams 3. From 4 to 7 we still have most of the guys I'd want Atlanta to take. Or even better, trade a little further down and try to get more future first round picks.

I want strength in the trenches. I know QBs are super important, but I'd rather sure up the OL and DL and suck again and get a top QB next year.

I can't imagine any team moving up for anyone not named Lawrence or Fields. Kyle Trask/Zach Wilson//Trey Lance/Mac Jones/etc. will all be available after pick 5 in all likelihood.

I like Zach Wilson more than Fields. But lots of people are projecting Fields to the Falcons. So if someone wants Fields, he's right here

    Same.

I want nothing to do with OSU QBs.

It's less OSU QBs (they're bound to get one right eventually) and more not wanting a project QB. I'd rather have another Ryan who can just step in and be a starter right away and impact the league by year 2. High Floor High Ceiling over low floor higher ceiling. Honestly if I was picking that type of QB I'd rather have Trask or Jones later.

I just don't see the Jets passing on Fields' athletic ability. He has the raw talent to become another Watson/Wilson type of QB. At the very least, the right coaching staff could turn him into a version of Lamar Jackson/Josh Allen.

But of course it's the Jets, so whatever QB they select, they'll ruin. Someone could clone Peyton Manning and they'd turn him into a bust.

Lamar Jackson is a better QB than Russell Wilson. As long as he can stay healthy.

Last 2 years Jackson had a Total QBR of 83 and 73.6, which would rank number 1 and number 2 in Wilson's career.

Not to put down wilson. But Jackson belongs in the same tier as Wilson.

I disagree. Wilson throws the ball substantially more. The difference in QBR can mainly be attributed to a ridiculously high TD/Attempt ratio Lamar has which I don't think will be sustainable.

You're not wrong on the number of dropbacks. Wilson does throw more. But that's more of a recent development. He didn't have more than 500 dropbacks until he was 27, Lamar Jackson is 23. Wilson's first 2 seasons in the league he dropped back an average of 27.4 times per game. Jackson's first 2 full seasons (I don't want to attempt his rookie year as he had games coming off the bench) he dropped back 27.6 times. If Jackson stays healthy and unless he has a Robert Griffin level crash, he should be at worst on par with Wilson.

Lamar is great. But when teams are able to contain Lamar and the Ravens running game and force Lamar to beat them with his arm, he has tended to struggle. However, it's rare that teams are able to do that because he's such an amazing athlete.

Really, I didn't mean that post to be a slight Lamar when I said Fields could be "at least" Lamar Jackson. I just meant that even if Fields passing game isn't very strong (like Lamar), if you put him in the right offense that caters to his strengths, he can have a lot of success.

You are right about Wilson. He didn't become an "elite" QB passing wise until later in his career.

Fields definitely isn't as quick as Jackson. Few are. But I definitely think he is faster than Deshaun Watson, who posted a 4.67 40 at the combine. I think Fields will post a 40 in the 4.5 range if he runs at the combine.
