I've been thinking, I think the perfect Falcons draft is to get Turner or Alt then Grab Penix in the second. Alternative is to trade back into the mid teens and get Verse, LAtu and another 2nd and then get Penix and a DB.

Wow Penix at 8.
No clue why. At least trade back.
I have no problem taking Penix at 8...if you don't sign Cousins. But signing Cousins to a big contract then spending a top 10 pick on a QB who will, if your plan works, not play for two years is just baffling. Only Atlanta could be so obtuse.
Falcants. If it weren't for the Colorado Rockies and a few others, they'd be the most incompetent franchise in pro sports.
Yeah, Penix pick makes sense if you dont sign Kirk. You're basically locked into Kirk for 3 years. With him? Dont get it.
Even Cousins was caught off guard. Bro should have just worked out something with Minnesota.
It’s the only spot on the roster legit locked in for the next 3 years.
Could have seen Wr, Cb, OL, and DE/OLB.
Embarrassing

I can't even anymore. I try soooo hard to look for positives in what the Falcons are doing. I'm done... this is just a new level of incompetence. I feel bad for Penix because I really love him as a prospect... and this would have been great if we didn't just SPEND 100+ MILLION ON A QB. Also... if you're still going to pick a QB at 8 when you have Cousins... maybe take someone like JJ McCarthy who's very young and more raw to develop. Penix is basically NFL ready but now won't play a snap till he's 26 at the earliest.
If this had been a successful franchise in the past several years, I would maybe have a bit more trust but I don't see how this happened or was allowed to happen. They better hope Penix turns into Steve Young and wins some big time games.
At least your team didn't take OL with their first pick in 2 straight drafts with the intention of moving them to a brand new position..
Like why not just draft a player that plays the position that you're looking to fill? Is it that hard?
The only thing that matters is if he hits but ideally you don't sign a big time QB and then take another with the 8th pick the same year.
