Not to make this another Heyward thread, but I'm not sure why they would when they have two young cheap options.

That's why God made Aaron Harang.

That and he had 300 pounds of clay leftover.

I mean, if you can get Iwakuma for 3/$24m, it's always better to have discounted assets. I think we can deal from pitching right now.

If you cut too close, there are always Harangs hanging around in spring training.
Well the pitching we have is young and inexperienced. I'd rather not be depending on a rotation of Miller, Teheran, Wisler, Folty, and Minor/ManBan/Perez/Jenkins/anyone other higher level internal options. And the younger top pitchers we have, like Allard, Fried, and Touki, likely won't be ready for another 2-3 years.

    Verlander/Kazmir/Samardzija/Zimmerman
    Miller
    Leake
    Teheran
    Ban/Perez/Minor/Wisler (nice depth)

In addition, I would go after Feliz, Eric O', and Hunter to help the bullpen. Would probably even give Beachy a try there.
I wouldn't sign 2 pitchers. I'd sign 1 (preferably Price, but Leake/Kazmir/Samardzija would not be bad either), and then I would simply keep Minor.

    Rotation of:

    Miller
    FA pitcher
    Teheran
    Minor
    Wisler

I would only bring in 2 pitchers if Teheran or Minor were shipped out.

I like ur plans for the BP however. With Grilli and Simmons coming back as well, we could have a very good pen next year.

A lot to bank on Minor successfully returning. And I am guessing a trade for the offense would start with Teheran. Either way, I hope we get Leake. I think he's the guy out there with the best potential ROI.

If Minor doesn't return to form we would still have what's left from the group we didn't trade for hitting between Folty, ManBan, Jenkins, Sims, and Perez. All of them we would able to throw in the 5th slot with ease imo.

I want to keep Ban and Sims the most out of that group.
