Yikes, this looks really questionable for the Reds. Love it for CHW, like it for LAD, and have no idea what CIN is thinking. That is a super light return for two years of Frazier at ~$20m.

And he's the best player going to CIN in this deal.
If Peraza can play at least average SS defense he is going to have a long career as a starter.

Reds should have taken what the Dodgers got. Dodgers have to be loading up for a trade.
The underrating of Peraza continues. He was phenomenal as a 20 year old in High A and Double A and had a decent season as a 21 year old in AAA. He's been quite young for his level. He probably should repeat at AAA this year and I think he would have a very good season there. I think he will have a solid career as a ML regular. And he is still young enough to have significant upside (potential All-Star).

Jose Peraza is the epitome of the player whose perceived value (prospect ranking) hasn't quite caught up to what the industry really values him at.
I agree. I'm not arguing the Braves overpaid for Olivera. They did. But are we sure what Frazier's value really is? I mean this return for him is pretty meh and you have to assume if much better offers were coming through then the Reds would have taken it.
I would rather have Olivera than Peraza.
that is so true.. Both the Braves and Dodgers valued him as nothing more than a utility player.. The Dodgers traded for another 2B in the deal, if that tells you anything.
That is one concern of mine with Mallex.. he has less power than even Jose.. and his defense is not polished with a weak arm. He has 1.5 tools.. hitting (.5) and speed.. I think Mallex could be a great utility out fielder/pinch runner type guy.. That is why I would like more OF in trades..
Bro. The Reds got the shaft here. The Dodgers received the best package lol

I think Peraza's upside is almost all based on this. If he's a 2B or a CF, he loses a ton of value. Not saying he's "just a guy" if he can't play SS, but third organization in a year usually means that he's either highly sought after or losing some of his sheen. It looks as though his offensive value is almost totally BA driven.
