Pierzynski, Detwiler are the only free agents moving forward. One site said Jackson was, but another said he is under contract for 2016.

I think that is because the Cubs released him. They still owe him the amount owed for next year. We signed him for this season. Basically the Cubs version of Dan Uggla. So he should be a free agent this offseason

I would say anywhere from 6-10 players on that list should be on Braves ML roster.

This franchise needs a COMPLETE overhaul.

Mike Minor (4.138) – $5.6MM (probably brought back)
Pedro Ciriaco (3.049) – $800K (with AAA infielders Castro, Garcia, might be non-tender? Seems like a duplicate of a utility guy we already have))
    Shelby Miller (3.030) – $2.6MM (definitely back)
    Arodys Vizcaino (2.168) – $1.1MM (definitely back)
    Chris Withrow (2.132) – $600K (definitely back)

I think this decision might turn on a broader view as to what is best for Castro's development. He just completed his age 22 season, spending time in AA, AAA and the majors. His slash numbers were as follows

    AA .389/.411/.444 in 98 PAs
    AAA .268/.314/.297 in 345 PAs
    ML .240/.263/.344 in 100 PAs

His numbers in AAA and the majors suggest he could use some additional development time. I'd rather see him get at least another half season in AAA. Once he shows he is ready (and I would define that as a .330 or better OBP at the AAA level over 300 PAs) I would bring him up and find a role for him at the major league level.

This is not meant to argue for Ciriaco in particular. But I hope we have a utility infielder signed to a major league contract for next year so that Castro isn't called on to play that role from the get go.

Wow, the number on Shelby is lower than I was thinking. It seems to me the MLBTR guy was missing on the low side a lot last year. $2.6m would be a nice price point for ATL.

Looks too low to me. I think something like 4M is more likely. But the arb process is a bit crazy in emphasizing certain old school stats like won-loss record for pitchers.

Guys like Ciriaco are dime-a-dozen and I don't think he needs to be on the 40-man and that decision should be made irrespective of how the organization views Castro.

I'd also drop Lavarnway, Terdoslavich, Kelly, Marimon, and Detwiler (think he's an FA anyway). I'm on the fence about Cunningham and Weber.

We will need some guys like Lavarnway and Ciriaco for AAA. It might be better to sign guys like that to minor league deals and protect players like Weber and Terdoslavich who are a bit younger and still have options.

I don't know when the list of 2016 6-year minor league free agents will be available, but I wonder if we will be able to find equivalences to Larvarnway and Ciriaco off that list. I am beginning to think we've seen the best we are going to see from Terdoslavich. It would be nice if he had solid defense. I think all Cunningham has is solid defense. Too bad they can't be fused.

BA put out your favorite list on Nov 7 last year. Just 31 days if they stick to that schedule! We'll be needing a couple catchers for AAA in addition to one for the ML team.

Given that we probably have the weakest depth chart at catcher in the league, I think there's a very good chance Lavarnway (or even someone better) would be interested in signing a minor league deal with ST invite if we remove him from the 40-man. No reason to carry him over the Winter, IMO.

My guess is that one of the Johns has already been on the horn with representatives for both Dillon Gee and Vinnie Pestano today.

Not sexy at all, but could strike gold with them as cheap stopgaps and potentially flip them around the deadline.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
