What is something you're embarrassed to admit you didn't know?

I honestly thought the Black Sox were a real team growing up. Thought they were a contracted team that no longer existed. Thought it was just another Sox team like Red and White. Realized this wasn't the case when I read about the Scandal a few years ago.

I thought the same thing until I was in high school or so.

I didn't know what masturbate meant until I misused the word in 6th grade and got laughed at.

When my siblings and I grew up, my mom didn't work so we basically had a home cooked meal every night for dinner. My dad was a doctor so we ate good. We Rarely ate out or had fast food. So when I was 21 I had a job at Kroger. There was a KFC in the parking lot so I volunteered to pick up food at work. One of the older black ladies (late 40's) wanted fried chicken but she wanted dark meat. I was perplexed. I had no idea that chicken even came in dark meat since we only ate chicken breasts growing up. I learned chicken came in dark meat that night

I remember being confused about what "on the rag" meant and asked some older kid in the neighborhood where his mother kept her rag.

For anyone who has watched Orange is the New Black, I didn't realize there was a "hole within the hole." I asked my wife if that was true and she laughed at me cause i didn't know.

As someone who doesn't watch Orange is the New Black, can you expand on this so I can also laugh?

When I was in 6th grade, I found out that the red pepper flakes that sit on tables in Italian restaurants are not potpourri. It was a school trip too, so it took awhile for kids to stop bringing that up.

I can commiserate on that. I kind of thought that too. I don't think I went that long, but because no one in my family used it I didn't know what it was.

To me the most embarrassing thing I can think of is when I was 10 or so I dropped the N Bomb not really knowing what it was. I was a very embarrassing kid though. Under 5 I would curse up a storm without knowing what I was doing.

That was exactly my case - never saw anyone use it and I had seen potpourri before. One of my classmates asked the waiter for a to go bag so that I could "take some potpourri home to my mommy" - as embarrassed as I was, that was still pretty damn funny.

Yes, my school system was rather poor. The same people that graduate from there come back straight back to teach it. Luckily I have great parents that pushed me hard anyways.

However I don't feel too bad about this now. While google searching for this video, I happened to watch the behind the scenes video for this episode. Apparently the producer and several of the staff (even the women) didn't know this either, lol.
