Yeah you definitely don't know what you're talking about.

The McGuffin of ANH is the Death Star plans and R2 in a round about way. It's what drives the initial story. It goes from protecting the plans, rescuing the princess, and the destroying the deathstar.

Just as the McGuffin of The Force Awakens is the map to Luke. It's what sets the story in motion.

Or you don't. But it's OK. I guess I can listen to you. Or to people who know what they're talking about.

The reason the Death Star plans aren't a MacGuffin though is there's a narrative explanation to them. It's certainly a trigger, but it's got plenty of narrative explanation.

That's because the macguffin is r2. When the movie opens it's all about him and he loses importance after the first act

    That's not really a MacGuffin.

Yes I know that Lucas called R2 the MacGuffin of ANH. R2 was less of a MacGuffin and more of a vehicle, literally.

Now I seriously believe that people will like anything with the Star Wars label on it as long as it's at least mediocre.

Sounds a lot like scorned lover syndrome. "My new gf is better than my ex, therefore she's great."

I have intelligent opinions that I can actually support with writing and filmmaking knowledge.

But, I envy you, to be honest. I wish I could be as easily entertained and invested as you. For instance, I wish I could watch an Adam Sandler movie and think, "this is great comedy." But, I can't. Oh well. Enjoy your Adam Sandler films, Zeets. And as you are laughing at your 15th fart joke in 2 hours, think of me, and remember how good you have it.

For someone with a filmmaking knowledge, your disdain for the Force Awakens makes no sense. But whatever, all talk no walk. Not shocked.

What did you not like? You know how the movie was going to end going into it. I didn't think it was that bad.

Not even really sure what that means, but not surprised to see another half-baked comment from you.

It's simple, if you like Star Wars and you know film, you should like TFA. Source, my girlfriend and the double handful of film school friends she has. It's far and away the best written and directed star wars film.

Best written? It was A New Hope recycled.

    Nope,

But you're confusing writing and story.Common issue with most people. A movie like Reservoir Dogs has the simplest story, but it's so impressively well written.

    -Uninteresting characters

    -Dramatic scenes that weren't earned

-Hokey dialogue and acting (worse than normal for SW)

-Forest Whitaker mailing it in. Seriously, an actor of his caliber should be embarrassed for that performance

-The person who wrote the "Don't choke on your own ambition" line should be shipped to Antarctica in a box

-A forced romance at the end between two characters with no chemistry.

    -the editing was shoddy

-the pacing at the beginning was set to light speed

-someone forgot that the lights on Darth Vader's chest piece were supposed to be on

-who are these two asians and why do I give a ****?

-the empire trying to take out the girl on the satellite instead of the satellite itself. Tarkin had the right idea

-The action scenes were predictable and lacked wow factor. The Death Star scenes being an exception

    -discount Admiral Ackbar

Other than that I enjoyed it.

Okay guy. And if you know anything about football then you should like the Patriots.
