Earlier I mentioned that every offseason a player is traded that has no business being traded. I didn't mean that we should be the one to trade that guy.

**** our front office and the old brass if this goes down
i melted after the Heyward trade and getting rid of Simmons would pretty much put me to 2nd class fan that only shows up on opening day for the most part

Again, trading Simmons needs to yield a substantial return beyond just prospects. I'm talking MLB-proven and established talent. Otherwise, it's just our front office continuing to piss in the wind, talking about building for the future, yet trading away our most valuable young assets.
Donaldson got traded out of the blue last year and it was all hush hush till it happened so who knows.
Simmons isn't expensive and signed for a long time, so trading him makes no sense unless you are clearly winning the trade imo.
There is a strong air of anger, frustration, sadness, excitement and sweat - lots of sweat.
Chopping With The Braves And Rolling With The Tide
The guy that originally leaked this has been quiet as a mouse for the last hour or so....while more prominent writers have said this is not true....I error on the side of experience and believe this is overblown....
Bed time. Good night everyone!
Yes. 7:30 is calling quick and work is calling. I'm hoping I wake up with some form of definitive proof, but until then, I fare thee goodnight.

I'd want Hedges, Renfro, and Liriano.
Simmons is about to be traded based on the actions of this staff last offseason. Every time there was even a hint that a guy could be moved that player was eventually traded. My guess is that Wren and Coppolella are choosing what offer they want.
thank you weso1!
I'd agree weso. I'd say Simmons is toast.
But after the Olivera trade I'm not very confident.
Well this has developed semi-quickly. Simmons, even as a non hitter, is a valuable asset. He is signed for 5 more years at what comes out to 10.6 million per year. The last 3 years he has averaged 3.1 WAR and is projected to be a 3.2 WAR player in 2016 even with him still being a non hitter. If he were to hit the FA market this offseason he would likely get something close to 17-18 million a year which is a huge difference between what he's actually going to get paid. If he gets traded it needs to bring back several players of worth and hopefully guys that can hit.

The Dodgers intrigue me if we were to trade him bc they have some good young pitching in the minors and have Turner at 3b and possibly getting Peraza back as a stop gap to Albies, Pederson could be an option as well. I'm sure when the rumor came out about Simmons Coppys phone blew up with interest from just about everybody.
I love Simmons but I'm all for trading him for multiple pieces. IMO we absolutely should deal him if we get the right offer
