There is a massive problem with college, but throwning more money at it won't make it worse, it will just make the issue more ****ty.

College for all is one area I don't agree with Sanders/Stein on. To me if anything we should get out of the loan and grant game. I don't believe we're better educated or better off with more poeple in college, I think we just see more people who take longer to adjust to real life.

Why not call it what it is , 13-14-15 and 16th grade.
Instead of college -- in our area that is what Community Colleges are called. 13th grade

The goal is to educate beyond traditional post WWII high school education. Academically and technically.
I make fun of Rubio's verbage on tech schools beyond high school but in fact, his educational ideas are sound.
I dont think they go far enough but sound.

Please note when I got out of high school, Texas and California ( and a few others I think) offered free tuition to state institutions to instate residents. I believe there was a 5 year requirement.

Actually math can work out on a rudamentary level. If you eliminate all grants, backed loans etc and file that to public universities you make a heck fo a stamp on the cost. More than the current cost but that doesn't adjust for students leaving private schools for public.

I better get a $40K refund when they forgive student debt... I paid all mine back on my own, which is weird, because the 1% didn't bother to help me

    Well that's a tangent.

I'm against all forgiveness. People went into school knowing the risk of debt. If they didn't, their parents failed them.

Tennessee has the lottery program. It's been over 6 or 7 years since I received it, so I don't know the exact details or if it has changed, but if I remember correctly pretty much every high school graduate is eligible for like a $3,000 scholarship per semester as long as you maintain a 3.0 GPA in college. The average tuition for a community/technical college in Tennessee is lIke $2000 per semester, so as long as you make the grades, you can go to college for free.

I think if people graduate from a state college/university and get a job in their field within a reasonable amount of time, then partial loan forgiveness should be an option. And actually, many state/federal jobs offer this

That's a great point. State lottery is a big help. Although the more prestigious programs are always going to be pricey for obvious reasons, but you're going to be more likely to be able to afford to pay off any debt.

But there really are a lot of options out there right now that make college tuition cheap or even free, especially for low income families. College tuition has become much less of an issue for many people.
    thank you weso1!
