Well from just speculation, I think the braves are looking into every option to make the team better. So if they looked at this guy who will probably go cheap, they are considering if he would put up better numbers on offense and/or in the field over Olivera.

If they felt that were the case they make him an offer, and if he accepts he plays LF while Olivera shifts back to the infield.
