Minor will be guaranteed $7.5MM in total, Jeffrey Flanagan of MLB.com tweets. He’ll earn $2MM for the coming season and twice that in 2017. The option is valued at $10MM, with a $1.5MM buyout making up the remainder of the guaranteed money.

They're doing a great job of picking up our surgery guys.

I personally would of loved to keep Mike, but we have way to many high-caliber arms to worry about this.

I don't think Mike will ever be the same. He had 2 good seasons.. he had troubles getting back from that shoulder surgery which hints that he may never fully come back. He might have an ok season or two left in him.. but we don't need him.

best of luck but not going to cry over this..

Pretty much agree with this. I am surprised he got this much guaranteed money. If he wins the Cy Young, I guess the Braves blew it.

Wow, I for one am surprised he was offered a guarantee that big. Hope it works out for Mike. Feel the same way I did on Medlen . . . sad to see him go, but glad we didn't match the contract offered by KC.

Good for him but I can't believe that paid that much.

Shame we didn't keep him, we have the money to use. Good for Minor, and if he is healthy and back, good for KC they'll get a solid starter for a heck of a deal.

Me, too. I'd trash Dayton for lighting money on fire, but...well...seems to be working out ok for him.

Kind of the same feeling I had when Sabean gave Lincecum that big two year deal. "How retarded!" "Yeah, but he wins the World Series every other year."

I would have been hard pressed to give Minor more than a minor league deal full of incentives. There's a very, very real chance he never pitches close to effectively again.

Agreed 100 percent. Will be happy for hin if he returns well. Won't ever bash Braves for not rolling the dice on Minor. The only guy I would have not minded a gamble on this year (beyond their current TJ guys) is EOF.

That money will be put to much better use on the international market.
