This recent flap about "civility" has got me thinking a lot about Dr. King, and the way in which his life and legacy have been sanitized, and all of the rough, uncomfortable edges sanded off. King and his cohorts who struggled, were jailed, bled, and died in the name of justice were criticized along similar lines, often simply so disengaged parties could feel comfortable in their own complicity.
