The justice system disproportionately targets blacks? That should be easily proven with data.

The modern day rorschach test is showing a leftist literally anything and all they see is black oppression

Almost uniform agreement. But then the questions come up why t he majority of black people continue to be stagnant economically. Race based politics will quickly follow because the left doesn’t want to answer why their principle constituency has gotten little to no benefit for their voting.

It has always seemed to me there are disadvantaged people of all races and advantaged people of all races, and it is laziness (not to mention counterproductive) to use race as a proxy for whether someone is advantaged or disadvantaged. If we framed policy in terms of providing a helping hand to the disadvantaged, we'd move past a lot of these arguments that dont get us anywhere.

I actually came across a study about this very thing yesterday that supports this stance 100%. Essentially the study suggests that framing policy- particularly progressive policy- with a justification based on race decreases popularity on all sides while a framing based around economic class increases support on all sides: https://osf.io/tdkf3/
"We demonstrate that despite leftward shifts in public attitudes towards issues of racial equality, racial framing decreases support for race-neutral progressive policies. Generally, the class frame most successfully increases support for progressive policies across racial and political subgroups."

I think the politics of race are minefield that is necessary to try to negotiate, because I agree that it’s worthwhile and necessary to acknowledge historical and ongoing injustices and inequities that are based on race. I also think that analysis should go hand-in-hand with a clear-eyed view of how our historical and contemporary politics have taken advantage of fissures along racial lines, dividing working people on those racial lines instead of class lines. Conservatives have stoked white resentment against a chosen “other,” while liberals have often focused on idpol and representation at the expense of any real structural change. There’s a lot that gets lost in the shuffle there—poor white people, rural black people, immigrants of other ethnicities—all people who would be empowered by class-based politics, all people who are kept apart by the same contemporary political forces.
It makes intuitive sense to people until it you call it Marxism, then it’s bad.
