A couple take aways from today's radio broadcast thus far . . .

1.) Don and Jim heaping a ton of praise on Inciarte's CF defense. Not shocking, but excited to see him out there.
2.) Jim said the Braves are using noticeably more IF shifts. It's long overdue. I can't imagine this was Fredi's idea, so I'm glad somebody got to him.

As I'm writing this, Inciarte just hit a 3B!

Everyone can complain about the lack of power as much as they like. Yes, it's the middle of March, but the fact that there are almost NO 0-fers beside Olivera's name in boxscores is significant. The interview about the changes with Seitzer someone posted earlier mentioned that the power will come as he begins to become more and more comfortable with them.

25+ homers out of the pairing of Hector and KJ in LF and 25+ out of the pairing of Garcia and KJ at 3B is certainly a possibility.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

You think 50 homers out of LF and 3B is possible?

You're double counting unless you are saying the three could combine for 50 HRs total.

He was the hot new thing last spring.

    Spring numbers don't mean much.

It's not likely, but it's not impossible.

True. They could suddenly extend the season to 300 games.

He actually said Garcia, Olivera, and KJ... But you're right. There's absolutely no way.

I absolutely think 50 from the three of them is possible. I also completely expect to be in the minority that believes it's possible.

I think there are way too many people underestimating what Olivera and Garcia are capable of. I'm really sorry for those who have been drawn into the light expectations many of the naysayers have followed when it comes to Olivera, but I'm apparently one of the few who actually still trust scouts. There's little doubt in my mind that Olivera's capable of hitting 20 bombs.

Garcia never hit more than 9 homers in a season in the minors. In his first MLB stint he had a 19.1 AB/HR... that is not anywhere near sustainable. Kelly Johnson hasn't hit more than 16 homers in a season since 2011 in a hitter friendly park and is now 34. Olivera has shown very little homerun power thus far in the minors or majors. Also, most of the scouts you talk about never said he'd be more than a 10-15 homerun player. So yah, your prediction is quite a bit silly.

From what I have seen (not a ton, but more than enough I'd think) Garcia has more pop that he showed in the minors. If freeman battles injury and he sees enough ABs, I could see him being at the top or very close to the team lead in HRs

Okay... I looked back at Badler's report and a few others... they think he could top out as a 20 homer guy. Really sorry I was 5 off on my memory. Either way, it doesn't take away the ridiculous nature of the prediction.
