As a Mississippi State fan, I can tell you Renfroe is one of the most talented players you'll ever see. The question mark on him has been whether he can be disciplined enough, as he got a late start to playing baseball and has had to play catch-up in both college and pro ball.
If he ever 'gets it,' and it's looking like he might be doing just that, the numbers he puts up will be stupid.
Stupid power, stupid arm strength, great defense, good speed.
Speaking of homeruns and the unbelievable. Matt Holiday returned from the DL last night and hit a pinch hit homer for the Cards. It was his 20th so that's yet 1 more player to get to 20 homers for the season. It was also likely his last AB for the Cards as they don't plan on bringing him back next year.
With 2 games to go the 2016 season is 129 homers behind the year 2000 so unless something crazy happens it's not going to set the record. Still it will only be the 2nd time in history there are more than 5600 homers hit in a single season. Will be interesting to see is this continue into next year. Overall scoring is up from the previous few years but still nowhere close to the steroid era.
Cards not dead yet, Kershaw goes in SF tonight.
Game 162 could get interesting if LA wins tonight, and that AL WC is jumbled up.
Should be a fun final day. Possibility of a tie (sort of) in both Wild Card races. Tigers need to win, have one or both of Baltimore and Toronto lose and then win again Monday against Cleveland. Will make this coming week wild as well.
Possibly the worse news any Braves fan could hear.. GM Dave Stewart was fired today. NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
