Jose Ramirez designated for assignment.
Cervenka will give us a second lefty in the pen. Allelujah! He has issues with walks, but generates a lot of strikeouts. Let's see what he's got.

I guess they pitched Jose Ramirez so often early to see if he's even worth the long-term commitment.
He was not. lol
We had to kick the tires.
Now we will kick the tires on Cervenka and de la Cruz.
Chances are that Cervenka is the next Ryan Buchter. But I have no objection to giving him an audition.
As for de la Cruz, he seems to be more of a control pitcher.
Some of the other guys in AAA and AA will be getting chances in the pen later this year. I have some interest in David Peterson and Ryan Weber on the AAA team, and Marksberry and Kinman on the AA team.
Wonder who gets sent down when Chacin gets activated.
We have more garbage at at our disposal than all of Waste Management's pits combined.
Marcus de la Vega?
If not Withrow, then they might just send Joel De La Cruz back down. I was surprised he got the call anyway as he wasn't good in his two innings with the G-Braves and his track record is not so good either. So could be they'll stick with Withrow despite his velocity issues for now and just option De La Cruz back to AAA. It will likely be one of them going down IMO.
FWIW, Bowman is either predicting or knows it's De La Cruz: "@mlbbowman De La Cruz will likely be the odd man out when the Braves add Chacin tomorrow."

Cervenka, with the sparkling career minor league ERA of 4.56, WHIP of 1.514, and De La Cruz at 4.10, WHIP of 1.383. Neither one of these guys is worth a damn, yet we are bringing up these bums? This is the best we can do? Goddamn
