I would have taken Ramsey because Im against taking RBs, but if you are going to take one Elliot has the talent. At least Morris will get less carries so I won't have to root against him as much.

I actually watched the first part of the 1st round last night on dallascowboys.com and the war room cam with a couple of pretty hilarious and pretty knowledgable guys. They showed and talked about the Tunsil bong twitter video around the time the Fecals were drafting. After the 8th or 9th pick I went in and watched the rest on the NFL network and they didn't mention the bong story until not that long before he was picked by Miami. They may have mentioned it earlier, while I was watching it online at the Cowboys site but if they did they weren't acting like it when I first went in there.

I heard the vote between Ramsey and Elliot was basically a tie and that Jerry cast the deciding vote. I'm actually with you, I would have preferred Ramsey but at least they took a really good player and I guess even Jerry's pretty trustworthy "decider" when you let him pick between 2 studs. You can't really lose either way.

I like Sheppard in the 3rd though I would prefer a decent FS, I want to puke every time I see Church and/or Wilcox back there and it's even worse when they put Heath back there. I think the Jones kid they picked last year will eventually wind up as their FS but they need a SS back there they feel that they can trust before they'll let go and let Jones just go back there and play.

Honestly I think I could have played CB or safety for the Broncos in the playoffs and/or Super Bowl last year. Almost anybody can cover for the 2 seconds it took Von Miller and Ware to get back to the QB. Miller could have been shot out of a cannon and not gotten back there any faster than he did. I remember the 85 Bears and the Giants teams with LT rushing the QB, not to mention the Steel Curtain and the really good Cowboys teams of the 70s and I really don't think I've ever seen a more dominant pass rush.

You know if a team doesn't suck year after year, doesn't have more holes to fill than a big slab of Swiss cheese they can do this sort of thing, like the Pats for example. When a team as sucky as the Cowboys takes one of these redshirt players like this, it's really just sad. And I say this after they had good success taking Bruce Carter in the same sort of situation and great success taking Sean Lee in the same sort of situation. "Hey look at us, we're so good we can take a RB in round one and a LB who won't even play next year" and "we're so good we can afford to wait a year on him, yes we are THAT good". Pitiful

Yeah, not sure that isn't a full round or two (or three?) early. Must have been totally good with the medicals to make that pick.

Jones is a Dan Quinn type, gifted athlete but really raw. Only started one year.

Austin Hooper would be nice, not a stretch and certainly fits a need.

I can't help but wonder what would have happened if the Falcons took Jack and Bell instead of Neal and Jones.

But I like Hooper in the 3rd. He could have gone in that late 2nd, he's still pretty raw.

I know I questioned the Cowboys taking Jaylon Smith in the second round. But obviously, I'm rooting for him since he's a Cowboy. But this video makes me root for him even more. Get that knee rehabbed and go get 'em when it's your time Jaylon!

They added a lot in free agency as well. Might be a D to target in fantasy

I like the Hooper pick in the third, guy has it all. Not much in the way of knocks on him.

Jones had been brought in for a workout, and I figured he was their guy when the pick was traded. I think they had a few guys they were fine with still there so the Texans could pick and be fine still. Really thought they were jumping in front of NY for Hack

Very true!! You love to see that kind of emotion and gratitude in today's "me me me" athletes. I still question the pick a LOT but I read something in a Cowboys forum that said the doctor who performed the surgery and who has been overseeing the kid's rehab is the same doctor the Cowboys use for such things normally so they may have had some "inside information" about just how far along he is in his rehab. Also, in the same forum it said the kid "has been running at full speed for 3 weeks now".

    Interesting details wouldn't you say?

You know the Falcons were kicking butt and taking names last season until about the half way point when teams started to figure them out a little better and some injuries and the fatigue of the season showed how thin they were on depth. I personally don't feel they are that far away from really challenging this year.
