Problem is that “stuff” has to include Ben Simmons since they can’t have two designated player max contracts on the same team. Jazz should absolutely be willing to do that though.

Think both Sexton and Lauri are flippable with a good half season and you loaded up on the picks.

Glad the Knicks held firm. I had warmed up to Mitchell a bit, but I still don’t think he made sense next to Brunson from a defensive standpoint. And that haul would’ve left them in a tough spot asset wise to get the next star they’d need to legitimately contend.

NBA teams are only allowed to have 2 max rookie extension guys on their roster at one time. Cavs now have 2 with Mitchell and Garland, and when the time comes, Mobley is certainly deserving. It’ll be a problem at some point, but I guess they were willing to worry about that another day.

Interesting about the Gobert and Mitchell trades is Ainge prioritized unprotected picks from two teams that are seemingly built to be good for a long time, but play in two bottom third markets… maybe bottom 5? If you are looking for assets seven years out, I’ll always take the bet against the market, especially when those teams will be limited in their ability to make future trades.

Either way. I’m really sad to see this era of Jazz basketball end. In retrospect they underachieved significantly, but it was a good six year run where we were relevant on a national level. At least, we had the foresight to tear things down before things got bad.

I guess you and I will have the next few years of draft lotteries to look forward to.

Mitchell is a guy whose awesome when you draft and develop him. He’s not the type of star who moves the needle if you have to burn all your assets to get him.

The best part about this if I am a Knicks fan. Mitchell is unrestricted in three years and wants to be in New York. Let Cleveland assume the risk with Mitchell to see if he can become efficient and prove himself as a defender. If he does, great.. you get him for nothing. If he doesn’t, he’s not what you need.

Meanwhile, you still have a lot of assets available for the next star.

Measured proof that it’s better to watch a bad team that cares more than a good team that doesn’t.

I’m a big fan. I’m sure in January I’ll regret saying that. But right now I have no idea how this guy was so bad in Chicago.

Whats the breaking point where Utah doesn't sell their valuable ready now players?

Its becoming a more substantial sample size of a team with a high level offensive team.

If this does become a yard sale (most likely outcome) the Jazz can become one of the biggest game changers in terms of making another team legit contenders. Telling me a team wouldn't want Conley for a stretch run if they have some weak PG play?

I love the idea of Conley back in Memphis. I think he would play well off ball with Ja.

As for the Jazz, I think the offense is clearly really good and sustainable. Everyone on the team can shoot and they are well coached. The defense is pretty bad though.

How wild would it be if jazz have a fun year where they make the playoffs and still get a lottery ticket because the idiots that run the t wolves thought you can run two bigs and still be a functioning offensive team?

The Wolves look absolutely lost. There is horrible horrible vibes with that team.

Let it be known that the Jazz got Mitchell and Gobert in draft day trades with Tim Connelly when he ran the Nuggets. They need to keep trading with him

Zion Williamson sure is fun to watch. His quickness and explosiveness is amazing. If he'd just stay healthy and keep his weight down.
