Newcomb has hit a rough spot in the 3rd though not all of it is really on him. He gave up 4 singles with two of them not getting out of the infield before the cleanup hitter launched one. After the HR he finished off the inning with a groundout.
It was definite bad luck with infield hits but Newcomb buckling for the HR is on him.
If memory serves, he gave up multiple IF hits in his previous two starts too.
It almost seems like they're coaching him to pitch to contact more to decrease walks. May take him some time to find the right middle-ground. I think he may need to take the "effectively wild" path to be successful.
Camargo on a hot streak. Wondering about his ceiling. With not wanting to start the clocks on Swanson and Albies, I've been wondering if this is the year for Camargo to get his big league debut (provided he is deemed ready) to figure out where he fits in the long term. If he did show something at the big league level, especially at SS, he could be a decent add-on in a trade. His arc hasn't been that much different than Nick Ahmed's, although Ahmed showed more power in the minors.

Wonder if Matos was assigned to Danville to be stretched out.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...
Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?
I'm just watching the minor league gameday, I'm not watching him in person, but it's still interesting to see Newcomb's command come and go. When his mechanics are good he's dominant. But he hits stretches where everything falls apart and he can't locate. He got two quick outs then walked two in a row (including the pitcher) then K's Michael Bourn to end the inning.
Newcomb's day is done. 5 IP, 6 H, 5 R, 5 ER, 2 BB, 3 K.
He didn't seem to pitch as bad as that line looks. Like I said, a couple of those hits were infield hits extending the inning to allow a 2 out 3 run HR. 5 of the hits came in the same inning. The BBs were back to back and didn't cause any trouble. Newcomb just lost his command for moment.
I doubt he had his A stuff today with only 3 Ks.
