I hope Wood pitches a gem, I have a feeling we'll need it today.
With Shawn Marcum gone, are there any Mets starters than we can hit?

The Mets are just too good.
When did we hit Marcum? As I recall we were the only team that couldn't touch him this year. Maybe we did okay one game against him, but he seemed to own us otherwise.
OK, I just checked. We did score 5 against him last game. But he pitched a gem against us the game before in a Mets 4-2 win.

That was a strike! Ump is squeezing Wood, but Laird's framing abilities don't help. He is awful, makes even good pitches look worse more times than not.
Yeah, it sucks for Wood that he has to pitch to Laird. There's a very good chance Gattis or McCann get at least one of those pitches called a strike.
When we go from Mac to Laird the difference is night and day. When you're use to one of the best in Mac, that makes Laird's bad framing look even worse too. Plus for all the crap Gattis gets, he is actually good at framing pitches. He's not a big drop off from Mac like Laird.
I also would argue that this partly explains Laird's poor win-loss record catching. We'd gone a long time without a win in Laird starts till this past Sunday. I've noted in a lot those losses timely close calls going against our pitchers. These are calls Mac and Gattis gets but Laird rarely does.

Dammit Bossman.
*sigh* BJ strikes out again.
Lol. Pitiful
We're getting no-hit today
Is there a worse lower half of the lineup in baseball than what we have with BJ, Janish, and the pitcher?
Paging Quilvio Veras.
Its just brutal to watch BJ everyday right now. Guy needs to show something or I wouldn't put him on the postseason roster.
