Even though that was a groundout that might have been Mallex's best at-bat in the Major Leagues.

    Man, when Folty gets consistent...

It's really exciting to watch the guy pitch like this!

Folty is kinda similar to Shark.

Obviously needs to be more consistent but the stuff is there when hes on.

good call, Shark seems like a pretty spot on comp for Folty.

good fastball, can be deadly when commanding their pitches, impossible to spell name

89 pitches in the 7th and he's removed? I thought Fredi was gone.

It's not even a jam. He gave up a weak bloop hit on an 0-2 count.

Agree, taking Folty out after 89 pitches, pitching so well, is absolutely moronic. Snitker is clueless regarding when to remove his starter.

I hope we go outside the Bobby Cox buddy brigade for our next mgr, someone with some semblance of modern thinking and statistical analysis.

Probably still in the AAA mentality where he is trying to preserve his pitchers. Well temporarily his pitchers, they will be someone else's next season

Thankfully he got out of it but still dumb, let Folty stay in.

Yeah, because Bobby was such a terrible manager and all.

Bobby's strength was his interpersonal relationship with his players, His "on the field" tactical management was shockingly awful (especially in the playoffs). It seems like many of his protege's share the latter and lack the former.

Is there proof Bud Black is a "modern" and "statistical" thinking manager?

For years some on this board have had a hard-on for Scioscia, the guy who has one of the biggest payrolls and gets worse results than Bobby did.
