Newcomb and Soroka are getting rocked.
Newcomb's control is just so frustrating. He can be on and then he just loses it.
Big game for Dustin Peterson.
Davidson and Herbert homered
Nice to see Ellis settle into his first decent AAA start last night. 5 IP, 4H, 0 R, 1 BB (!), 3 K. Only 71 pitches, and I think he was just pulled due to a delay.
I thought it was interesting that Newcomb only went .2 ip. He walked the first 4. Then a grand slam and then struck out the next two. Only at 49 pitches. It was like his manager said you are not going to come out and throw garbage and then get to stay in. Hit the showers. Or maybe he had a small injury (blister) that made him leave. But there has to be a reason why u get pulled after two strikeouts.
Odd line for Soroka. 6 runs (all earned) on 8 hits and no BBs. Normally you see this kind of line include a couple homers but only one of the 8 hits was for extra bases, a double.
Six runs on 7 singles and a double probably means Mike had some bad luck.
Soroka is so good even his bad starts are good.
Ventura's Stolen Bases
Ventura is so consistent.
Game called. Ellis gets credit for complete game.
We were the first to sing his praises last year. THe closer you look at last year's stats, the more more remarkable those numbers are.
