    G-Braves vs. Bflo Bisons 7/21-24

OK, this will be Thursday through Friday series. The Saturday game is Star Wars night. So that might be one to duck out as early as possible.

To prep, here's the current roster:
    http://www.milb.com/roster/index.jsp?sid=t431

As per usual, the purpose to pay particular attention to up and coming young talent and see some former major leaguers. Some of you are going to have to help me with some of the names. Of the current crop, the name that sticks out most is Banuelos. Does anyone know, from the current Gwinnett roster, are there any other prospects of note to watch?

From the vets, obviously it'll be fun to see Omar Infante and very likely Bonafacio. Then we have Matt Lipka. He finally made it to AAA!

So, if there's somebody else to keep an eye on, please post. Will check in as it gets closer, then post updates and obversations from each game attended.

Not seeing Banuelos - he's obviously not on the ATL 25 man, don't believe he went down to AA or got hurt....does anybody know status?

Looking forward to seeing Infante, see if Bonafacio can put something back together, get some impression of Kattaras and find out if there was any development from Lipke. So, there is work to be done. Always got to see a retread, and Roberto Hernandez fits that bill rather nicely. Oliveira! Has anybody here seen him live yet?

Lots going on this weekend. So, will try to keep this up as best as possible, and will wrap up by Monday.

Game 1 is tonight at 7:05. Same time for Friday. Saturday is 6:05, and Sunday is 1:05. Temperature will be in the high 80's through Saturday. Saturday night, as mentioned, is Star Wars Night. Going to want to get the hell out of the scene as quickly as possible.

Enjoy the game(s).. you get Blair tonight, so you can let us know how he looks. Also, ManBan was sent to AA to work with their pitching coach.

If we can't trust our guys with the AAA pitching coach, why the heck is Blair there? Blair is much more important than banuelos imo

Not sure.. I think Sims and ManBan have more of a history with that particular pitching coach.. or it could have something to do with room on the AA roster. Who knows. Hopefully he can work out what ever is messing with him. you don't go from a 1.8 ERA in AAA to not getting anyone out regardless of where you are without something going wrong with you.

Knucksie, don't get in trouble like you did last year.

Seems like we could send Admiral Ayckbar down to celebrate the occasion.

Sorry if my notes seem a little sketchy.

Bonifacio in CF and leading off. Seems to have decent bat speed.
Infante hit 2nd. Doubled in 4th.
Olivera was DH and hit cleanup. Assuming they're going to want to get him as many AB's as possible. Struck out with based loaded and full count in the 8th to side arm reliever. I caught the ball flipped over the netting from the catcher.

No specific impression of Blair, although one thing stuck out. His follow through on the delivery is excessive, which will create problems fielding comebackers.

Kotchman (!) played 1B for the Bisons. Doubled down RF line during early innings (maybe 3rd).

My friend, Carlos, was my career advisor at Buffalo State during college and grad school. We've stayed friends, and he has season tickets along 1B side. Nice seats. He gave me the low down on the Bisons. Said that there really aren't any prospects, save CF Dalton Pompey, who was brought up too soon. RP Pat Venditte is ambitextrous, and has a specially made glove. Could be interesting if he appears, and switch pitches during a game. Jose Bautista down on reb, starting Friday night.

    More from Friday:

The ambidextrous pitcher came on the 8th, but did not switch pitch during the inning, despite facing batters from both sides of the plate. Seems to be naturally right-handed.

Lipka had 2 run triple down LF line. He's hardly ever discussed. So, can't comment on whether to get our hopes up.

Nothing particularly eventful on Saturday. Packed house, mostly families and kids for the Star Wars. It wasn't the zoo I thought it'd be, but not used to concessions and rest rooms lines being so long for a minor league game!

Roberto Hernandez started. Actually pitched well. More of a pitchers' duel with tight defense kind of game.
