    Problems in Gwinnett?

Major league teams tend to keep problems among their player developement staff in house. Case in point being the almost secretive firing of Jamie Dismuke as Mississippi hitting coach a coulple of years ago. White Sox jumped all over him and he has been the Class AA Birmingham hitting coach for a couple of years without the reason for his firing ever being made public.

Likewise, we don't figure to get all the reasons that Rick Albert's tenure as Gwinnett manager was so damn short.
To summarize: Brian Snitker was moved to Atlanta to replace Fredi Gonzalez on May 17th. After two games in which John Moses served as interim manager, longtime Braves player development man Rick Albert was named to take over the Gwinnett job. Jose Alvarez came with Albert, as Marty Reed was named Braves bullpen coach with Eddie Perez moving to the dugout.

    Gwinnett was 19-20 under Snitker.
Moses was 1-1 as interim, with Albert officially taking over May 19.
Albert lasted only until June 14, with Moses returning. Albert was 10-13 and reassigned to the Braves Gulf Coast League franchise as a coach.
Since Moses has returned, Gwinnett has gone only 9-20. Their 3.95 ERA ranks 12th among 13 International League teams.

I was unaware of all of these moves. It is very curious. I think AAA has become a difficult place to manage because you have a mixture of prospects on the way up and AAAA guys who are desperately trying to hang on. Do you have any sense of the guys on the minor league coaching staffs who were added during the tenure of the previous scouting and player development regime? Could be that they are trying to get everyone on the same page, but that wouldn't explain the decisions (the promotion or demotion) on Albert, who has been with the Braves seemingly forever.
