1 ip and 3 k's for Minter. Wow. Dansby flashing the power. That God for that trade, our offense would look even more bleak.

I hope we get swept by the Reds this series as they seem like our main competitor for the first overall pick next year with the huge signing pool that comes with it. Honestly, the Reds are worse than we are so I am thankful we've managed to lose more games up to this point.

Regardless, we better use most of our high picks and signing pool to draft bats in next years draft. However, the college starting pitching in next year's class is supposed to be the best in the past decade+ so I don't have high hopes of that.

As much as I want bats I want the best talent so if that is a stud pitcher so be it

I think Hunter Greene will end up being the clear top prospect in next year's draft. Just a prediction.

Though I wouldn't mind grabbing JB Bukauskas.

If we get the top pick and a pitcher is obviously the best prospect in the draft, I think it'd be foolish not to take him. I'd obviously prefer that a hitter proves to be a clear 1-1, but I'd settle for any prospect that stands out as a no-brainer 1-1.

Absolutely. When you're number one, you don't debate that heavily.

I'm still holding out hope for Seth Beer to transfer to a Juco school.

Great night in Mississippi. Newcomb puts it together. Swanson hits one out and drives in four overall. 2 hits for Albies, 2 hits for Peterson, 2 hits for Meneses (nice to see him having an uptick over the past two games).

I'm bigger on Dustin Peterson that a lot of folks here, but he's had a solid season. 3rd in the Southern League in doubles and fifth in extra-base hits (he'll move up on that list as current 2nd-place guy Daniel Palka is in AAA). His older brother appears to have finally put together his HR swing and hopefully Dustin can do that as he develops. Important to remember he's only 21.

I am a huge D. Peterson fan. I agree, he is still young and his power could develop.

I really think Newcomb's start 2 starts ago was the wake up call.. He only got to pitch .2 innings. He walked the first 4 batters then gave up a grand slam.. He cam back and K'd the next 2 hitters and the manager came out and pulled him. I think it was a message to him that he won't put up with that BS.. I think every pitcher can struggle and have to battle.. but I also think some pitchers might just be lazy at times too.. There was no reason to pull Newcomb on that start after the 2 Ks.. he was only at 49 pitches. I think the Manager sent Newcomb a well deserved message that no one is just entitled to be good.
