Not like we'd get anything useful for him anyways.

Seems we're getting a lot of who won't be traded reports, but no who will be traded. Personally I wish we'd trade every one of the old guys that someone is willing to give someone for.

That is the problem. We are so bad no one wants our scraps. We won't trade JT. Viz and ender would be selling low. Everyone else has no value.

Then scrap them and try someone else. We're the worst team in baseball, so they obviously have no value to us either. We know frenchy is pretty much done... I'd rather take a chance on rojas jr and/or Olivera out there to close the season than run frenchy out there.

Really don't think we want to mess with the chemistry at this point. Number 1 pick or bust!

I have no problem keeping Frenchy. It's doubtful we'd get much more than a live arm or a guy with an outside shot of being a future bench player for him. With our organizational depth that's not very appealing. Francoeur also provides veteran leadership. While this is often overrated, it still has value and that value is enhanced when you have as little veteran leadership as the Braves have. And it's not about winning games now. It's about making sure young players know how to go about their business the right way.

There's really no reason to trade Francoeur for organizational filler. Unless someone offers you something actually valuable, it makes more sense to use him as a bat off the bench.

It seems to me we have a surplus of grit and veteran leadership we can trade from. Francoeur. AJ. Markakis. Beckham. Aybar. Flowers. That's a lot of veteran leadership. More than some teams who are heading to the playoffs.

Well, I suspect Aybar and AJ are destined to be released if not traded, Markakis and Beckham probably have enough value to be traded at some point.

I am fine with Frenchy and Flowers as the veteran Leadership going forward.

    5.) Jim Johnson
    6.) Pierzynski

and who would you call a "moron" next if our everyday lineup for the rest of the year included Castro at SS, Brandon Snyder in LF, and Recker and Kottaras/McKenry/Lalli behind the plate?
Oh my gosh...you are right. Looking at that lineup...that might put us in LAST place!! Oh wait, we already are and it doesn't matter + all of those guys have been horrible. Better to be young and learning "bad", than old and done "bad". Also, we need to access the AAA guys, so they open spots for the real talent in AA up to the next level.

Btw: Recker has done fine and Castro has always played well when he has been up. They are great place holders. They also need someone like Olivera up, so they can see if he can do "any" thing.

Holding onto these vets is stupid. Even if you take D prospects, you get them. How is it leadership when these vets are actually taking the place of younger kids in the minors needing to come up? You need to lose a couple at the very least.

Wanting a big haul for Francoeur? Completely laughable. Take a 23 year old C pitching prospect for him and move on.

These old guys aren't selling more tickets than the young blood that could replace them.

I like the Gomes trade.. Luis Valenzuela is a C prospect, but one of those Castro/utility hitters that can serve a purpose. He is starting to hit now after starting the season on the DL. he hit .400+ for us last year (SSS)...
