disappointing that yet another of the young pitchers has been demoted. it's no wonder the braves drafted the three pitchers this year so early. i fully expect the number one pick next year to be a pitcher as well. considering how much talent is on the farm, we still really have no idea about any of these guys yet. are any of the braves pitching prospects as highly rated as teheran was?

the more i think about julio, the more i realize that the braves really can't trade him. he's pretty much all they have for the foreseeable future.

You do know that most rookie/young pitchers struggle for a couple of years, right?

no **** sherlock. the point is, julio is going to be the only guy the braves can count on for what looks to be a long time. unless you think wisler, folty, and blair suddenly have some kind of light come on next season. it could be years before enough of these young pitchers are up and in good enough form to have a collective positive contribution. it's not like there's some kind of sure fire ace knocking on the door that we know of...

this is not the right thread for this.. but here it goes.. I think the fact that our young pitchers haven't shown readiness is the exact reason why we need to trade JT. JT won't win us enough to make a 100 loss season into an 75 loss season. We will be bad with or with out him. So trade him this winter and except the fact that the rebuild is behind schedule but still on the right track.. Don't keep JT just so you can go from 100 losses to 90 losses..

    exactly.

Don't waste the value that JT has; and it is a waste if we aren't competitive next year.

but i'm worried it won't just be next year. two years from now having a solid julio with whichever young pitchers are hopefully getting closer would be huge. or maybe it'll take three years. not to mention that it would probably do any of these young pitches wonders to have a solid vet from which to learn.

if you get rid of him, how will you replace him in three years? all homegrown guys? maybe. doubt it. they'll want a vet and he'll either be a cheap so so free agent or they'll end up trying to trade, but trading for quality starting pitching that will fill the criteria will be incredibly costly in many ways.

people seem to forget even HOFers like John Smoltz struggled in his early seasons. In fact in 1991 he was 2-11 at the all star break with an ERA north of 5. Yet this is the same pitcher who was on the mound at the end of season win, won game 7 of the NLCS and was on the mound in that historic game 7 of the world series.

So yes pitchers can struggle upon getting the the show, the question is do they learn how to adapt and make changes to improve.

If we aren't able to replace Julio with homegrown guys by the end of the 2019 season/beginning of the 2020 season it won't matter if we have Julio or not, because the rebuild will have completely failed and we will have an entirely new front office.

Minter only struck out 2 of the 3 batters he faced. Might as well cut him.

I'm at the game tonight. Sims was extremely wild at times. He hit 3 batters. That kept his walks down. But when he can get a batter into a pitchers count he is awesome. His curve ball is wicked. The curve ball certainly compensates for his tendency to wild.

Peterson continues to impress me. He hits the ball hard everytime he makes contact.
