Hard to complain about any of the performance of the high school pitchers we drafted early. Sterling stats.

Methinks it might be time for Muller to join Anderson and Wentz in Danville.

Rio Ruiz is sitting at 116 wRC+ as a 22 year old in AAA. There are only 3 players his age or younger hitting better in the International League . . .

Nick Williams in the PHI org has a wRC+ of 118. He's #40 on BA's midseason top 100 list.
Jesse Winker in the CIN org has a wRC+ of 121. He's #68 on BA's midseason top 100 list.
Jorge Polanco in the MIN org has a wRC+ of 126. He's #97 on BA's midseason top 100 list.

Wow certainly much more impressive looking at wRC+

It has been interesting to see Peterson get so much attention and Ruiz so little the year. Imo it is a close call as to which one is the better prospect.

I don't have stats to back this up, but from what I am remembering.. D Pete has been more consistent all year, where Rio has been very streaky... I would lean towards Peterson.. That said, Dustin has had a much better team around him all year.. makes Rio's accomplishments a bit more interesting..

Yeah, it's important to note that Ruiz plays a more demanding defensive position as well. Wish there was more info on his defensive abilities, but no news is typically good news when it comes to that, I guess.

He's definitely been streaky . . . this year and last. When he graduates to the big leagues, I think it will be best to do so in a part-time or platoon role so that we have another solid 3B to plug in if / when it hits a big-time slump.

I agree. Both have done really well. Young for their leagues and surviving through some speed bumps.

I've seen him in person and IMO he passes the eye test. Solid range, soft hands, arm plays well enough to stick. Doubt he'll ever be a Gold Glove guy, but he's solid defensively.

Our HS pitchers almost literally could not be pitching better in the GCL. Muller and Wilson should both be promoted with the others.

At their ages for the their levels... Peterson and Ruiz should have a major bump in prospect rankings next year... but I doubt they will simply because they just don't have the hype around them.

Yup... we couldn't be asking for more when all 4 will likely at least end up in Rome as some point next year.

How is this for pitching staffs at successive levels?

Carolina: Kolby Allard, Max Fried, Touki Toussaint, Patrick Weigel, and Ricardo Sanchez
Rome: Ian Anderson, Joey Wentz, Kyle Muller, Bryce Wilson, and Jaret Hellinger/Luis Gamez

I think at some point, you will see Fried and Weigel in Mississippi.

At their ages... Weigel and Fried should be promoted aggressively if they keep having success next year. Although I think Sanchez pitches the whole year at Rome again... he's had a rough go of it with a few bright spots mixed in.
