Always somebody fun to keep up with in this system on a daily basis. I can't wait for Maitan to get going.

    Yup and Severino/Penci/Soto/Guitierrez

So much young talent to track. Not to mention kids do emerge from the smaller signing bonuses as well -- both Acuna and Ozzy were like $300k signings

Thurman's struggles are disappointing. I wonder if a move to the pen is in his future.

I think they will let him try to work it out the rest of the year... but ultimately he will be moved to the pen. He has to be getting to the 'need to be on 40 man' status right. I see no way they waste a spot on him if so..

Matt Manning (pitching today vs Braves) has an ERA over 7 in 3 GCL starts.

It's truly amazing how well our 4 HS kids have pitched down there.

I was thinking 4 or 5... Wonder why they do an innings limit and not just a pitch count limit. Probably have a system like 3 innings or 50 pitches.. which ever comes first.. (GCL)

Anderson, Wentz, and Muller have combined for 29.2 IP, 35 K, 12 BB, and 2 ER.

Riley Pint has thrown 10.1 innings, struck out 11, given up 9 ER, and walked 5.

Braxton Garrett has not pitched yet. Matt Manning has been mentioned. Jason Groome has not pitched yet.

Evaluating pitchers is a strength of this organization, and I can't fathom why some want them to change that.

so apparently this Odalvi Javier kid is pretty good this year. 3ip, 3H, 1BB, 5k.. season: 16ip, 1er, 5BB, 17K..

the guys who start our GCL games have been pretty impressive despite the poor record.

Manning got lucky to only give up 1 run over 3 innings.. our hitting guru --Cruz got a 1 out triple and Pache lined into a DP to end the 3rd. Manning did have 5 Ks in 3 innings.. that is good.

I'm judging based on Soroka, who pitched exactly 4 innings in every Danville start last year. It's possible they intended to extend him some there but couldn't, as he gave up at least 5 baserunners in each of his last 5 starts there.

I'm just guessing they'll extend him to 4 innings for the next few starts and only maybe try to get him to 5 after that.

    And that doesn't include Wilson, who is at 8 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K.

Javier was yet another of our international signings last year who no one talks about - like Cruz and Pache. Anyone who doesn't realize how big a deal getting a lot of our old scouts and player development guys back after Wren was fired doesn't understand how important the names you never hear (scouts particularly) are to building a successful team at the MLB level. Over the years, we've been unbelievably fortunate - we've had guys who can find talent playing stickball.
Has there EVER been a statement and question a certain someone should absolutely never have made and asked publicly more than...

Kinda pathetic to see yourself as a message board knight in shining armor. How impotent does someone have to be in real life to resort to playing hero on a message board?

Javier is definitely a guy no one has talked about, though I'm not sure why we would have before now.

But we've definitely been talking about Cruz and Pache. Quite a bit, especially for 17-year-old kids.

Why did the scouts and player development guys leave when Wren got here?

That makes me sad to hear. I met him in Myrtle Beach at a game one time and he was as nice as could be.

Plus a lot of guys took promotions elsewhere. Roy Clark in particular was given a higher position with Washington I believe. I think he was assistant GM?
